He reckoned it'd be just over a week but I doubt that somehow. Diablo II is filling the gap nicely though.

It really didn't take long for me. Just over a week sounds about right.

No, just long enough to convince yourself to go out and buy a Jasper with a 120gig HD and sell the one that broke once it's back.

Looks that way, doesn't it? But further research throws up this:

"you'll receive a code to instantly unlock the Revenge attribute at the beginning of the game. A multiplayer skill usually only available after many hours of multiplayer play and progression, the "Revenge" attribute gives you the boon of dropping a live grenade upon your death, taking out any nearby attackers… or your unsuspecting team-mates if they're not careful! Amazon.co.uk cannot be held responsible for any friendly fire incidents in multiplayer gameplay. Tread carefully."

Regardless, putting martyrdom in is shit. Why did they do it?

To appeal to CoD loving fools, who mistook the multiplayer being popular for the multiplayer being good.

In other news, Penny Arcade: On the Quite Shit Proposition of Blandness Episode 2 is reduced to 800 points this week. If you fancy playing Eternal Sonata, only not nearly as good.

As someone who plays that daily, I'd say you get one single person using it every 20 games or so. It happens rarely enough that your team immediately mention it.

I don't think it tells you very much, really, as it's a stat made up by the TA website and isn't official. What it probably does tell you is that I've played a lot of games and some of them not very much, hence I've only got the easy achievements on those particular ones.

It'll be more accurate once you've played more than four games, of course.

I never thought that martyrdom was a game breaker. But I certainly won't be jumping up and down at it's inclusion.

Elsewhere, I've been playing Killzone 2's multiplayer a fair bit and have strange mixed emotions about it. I started off bored at the lack of options/weapons/perks but marvelled at the graphics which are astonishing. 32 player matches were an awesome sight. You could hang back and just watch the unfolding mayhem which could look just like real war taking place in front of you; tens of players attacking each other, each engaged in individual stand-offs set against the background of a bigger fight. Pow-Pow!

You start to unlock a couple of ranks and weapons and it gets a bit better. The pow-pow increasing.

But the leveling up is SO BLOODY SLOW. And then you start getting picked off by snipers and drilled by spys (Finally a developer that played Team Fortress 2) (actually it does remind me like a big-budget TF2) and your stuck with your shitty lower class ranks. Gah.

You play about 15 hours and FINALLY you unlock the sniper rifle! And it really gets good. Turning invisible; spot and mark; erm, erm, looking cool! Finally it gets good.

But then the leveling up slows down further towards the top four ranks and games get boring again. 32 players is just too many. One team invariably swamps the other teams start base and the games get silly. And boredom sets in.

Then you realise, just stop playing 32 player games. 12-16-24 and the games get slower. More thoughtful. And it gets good again.

Then you buy the new maps. You might even play a little on practice with bots and marvel at the graphics again. The train level particularly nice and some hill one. God they look lovely. Xbox my arse.

So you go on line and, um, no ones playing them. Having spent a week trying to play the train level and NOT ONCE has anyone been playing it. Different times of the day, searching all regions, worldwide, NOTHING. No ones playing it.

Then you find out that people are playing some of the other levels but not with any frequency... Then you play this one massive level where a nuke goes off mid-round and you have to stop whatever your doing and run for cover. It's amazing! Often you'll be shooting it out, and you and your enemy run off, in the same direction for cover! Brilliant.

But more often, they don't and they just want to shoot you . Sod the nuke. If it goes off, so what. Although it is a brilliant way of resetting the mission halfway through too, if a little cheap.

So what to take away from all this? KZ2 multiplayer is both annoying and brillliant in equal amounts.
