An kind gentleman has pieced together all the gameplay footage released at E3 for this. No audio, before you ask:

Looks fair bostin. It needs a Dave.

It needs a Dave as an in-game character, to deadpan his way through encounters with the giant hive monster things.

Gearbox president Rowdy Pitchfork has announced the first DLC will be out within a week of release, for a bargainous 800pts, has a Hallowe'eny zombie theme, and DEFINITELY was NOT held back from the retail version, HONEST GUV'NOR.

In other news, Pitchfork scores 9/10 in Things Perkies Wants In Games by making Lilith (the token female character) a tattooed redhead version of Sophie Ellis-Bumsexx0r.

I don't understand the mewling about this sort of thing. If you think the game is bad value without the DLC content, don't buy it. If you think the DLC content is bad value, don't buy that. Seems simple to me, and I honestly cannot recall the last time Internet whining changed the world.

It got Google to change the Chrome T&Cs. And Facebook changed some T&C, I think. And Flickr dropped using Flash to display photos. And this place got subtitles.

Strong DVD sales had a lot more to do with that. And Firefly wasn't resurrected, they made a film instead.

Ruh roh. Also, Metacritic only has one review (from Official Xbox Magazine). It's the same on Gamerankings.

Am I the only one who thinks that strict control of review publish deadlines smells worringly like turkey?

Must say I'm tempted by this but it's taken me two years to do COD4 and Forza 2. 4 Player shooty co-op does sound da boom though.

The coverage on RPS so far makes it sound like they're plenty enthusiastic about it, mind.

That's a 10-4 good buddy. People are (quite understandably) fearing it'll be Hellgate London all over again.

A lot of what they've enthused endlessly over is not that great when you think about it. 17 million weapons? Whoop dee doo, you run the stats of each gun I find through a random number generator. And Pandy Richfork thinks that this is in fact a great idea, as it could mean a noob will find a top-level gun early on.

I've also been told that you're stuck with the four basic characters, only doing a palette swap on their clothes. Which will likely mean when people work out the optimum balance we'll see teams of two Bricks, a Roland and a Lilith (for example). Or three Mordecais and a Roland. (face it, Roland is going to rock, he's the medic)

Still looking forward to it, albeit with increasing caution. I almost hope my living room isn't finished by Friday as it means I'll be able to read the review instead of blinding purchasing it and discovering it's shit.

As long as it's not made by EA I can ask on behalf of UpToJump for you.

Cheapy preorder go:
http://www.savygamer.co.uk/2009/10/3-of ... ark-2.html

It's £29.95 (best price available), and if you spend £35 or more, you can get £3 off, so you could get another cheap game for not very much if you wanted. IE Skate for an extra £3.

Eurogamer review is up.

Last paragraph and score -

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Borderlands is unusual, playable, and an artfully violent step in an interesting direction for Gearbox. The story aspect of the game could have been better - I'd love to have seen the role-playing influence extend beyond stats, levels and loot - and the ending is a disappointment. Even so, this should be a favourite game of the year for a huge number of people, since it plugs into gamer impulses at such a fundamental level. We blow things up and collect the goodies. That part, at least, Gearbox has nailed.

8/10

Oooh. Read the review. Will get.

Now torn between wanting to be Roland (support class, healing stuff, buff me ffs) and Lilith (for superduper powers, including Phase Strike which gives you 160% damage boost if you whack someone while phasewalking) as the other two don't interest me.

You can see the skills at borderlands.wikia.com if you didn't already know.

This game is gloriously beautiful. Even from the first 10 minutes I can see myself sinking hours upon hours into this.

Plan your build with the official website tools (you have to first click the main skill at the top and then you can start putting points into everything else)

I love my Brick
Roland Rat!
Frasier's Wife
Obligatory angsty name

EDIT: Fucking hell, top whack (pun intended) Phase Strike is 800% melee damage!

Well, if a Dimrill has it, and it has Co-op. Then I'll have to get it.

Oi, Dimmers, Don't get tired of it before monday, as that's likely when I'll first have it and be available.
