I love music.
I cannot get to as many gigs or festivals as I would like now days..meh I cannot get out of bed as much as I would like these days..but I do try.
I would do two-four festivals a year if I could but I usually do one a year nowdays, therefore I have an agonizing choice each year.
Gig's happen when I have someone to haul me there and back.
I love Glastonbury festival with a huge passion and I love Download festival with almost as much passion.
I'm off to DL again this year.

Who have you seen live? What festivals do you go to?

Listy poples can use LISTS here Image I like lists.

I will list mine in this post later.

Within Temptation
Evanescence

I'll update it after my next festival in June.

Saw Hayseed Dixie last night at the Shepherd's Bush empire.

Strongly recommended, the song based on comedy terrorism called "Gonna set myself on fire" was genius and the monologue beforehand about how, if he was going to ram an airport, he might make sure his truck would fit through the door first was even better.

Plus if you haven't heard redneck banjo based covers of Walk this way and Ace of Spades then you haven't heard music.

Seen them three times to date, man they rock. I advise taking a lot of cider and a straw hat to any gigs.

Errr, I would hazard an educated guess that I've been to well over a thousand gigs since i was 15, so have seen several thousand bands live. I remember Rolf Harris at Glastonbury one year being very good.

Or so they tell me, it's all slightly blurry.

I saw Emilie Autumn the other night. I went to see her because her poster looked pretty. She was absolutely amazing. If you don't like industrial music and harpsichords or girls dressed in late 1700s early 1800s outfits then you're not going to like this sort of thing.

Can't we embed videos here?

Gods, I hate Emilie Autumn. And her target audience.

Ten years ago I'd have worshipped her, of course.

For those who didn't notice, I saw Merzbow the other night. And spoke to him, and everything. *swoons*

Boris tomoz, as aforementioned. Excitement.

Melt-Banana some time after that. Even more excitement.

Do I only see Japanese bands? Pretty much.

OK, not really. Hoping to see both Genghis Tron and Converge this summer. Hordes of excitement.

Converge at Rock City is going to be a bit good. Everyone, come to that!

Me, Mr & Mrs Marsh are going to see Public Enemy in Manchester next month, with Dr Octagon and Anti Pop Consortium. This will indeed be amazing!

As great as PE are, I have to admit I wanna go for the support acts. I thought APC had split up a long time ago. Is this a re-unification?

Cheers! All being well I'll be able to secure a vinyl copy of Smile.

The only festivals I go to nowadays is the three day Green Man Festival in the Brecon Beacons and the three-day SWN festival in Cardiff. The Green Man is utterly awesome if you like top new folk music and indie and the SFA are playing there this year. And Richard Thompson. As for gigs I've seen, too many to mention but standouts remain -

Joanna Newsome
Gruff Rhys
The Flaming Lips (bit of a religious experience first time I saw them, Soft Bulletin release, never heard them before :'( )
Black Box Recorder
Lemon Jelly
Patti Smith
Thomas Truax
Eugene Francis Jnr
James Yorkston
It's Jo & Danny
Elaine Palmer
Emmy the Great
Steve Malkmus (mainly for his The Wire shout out which a very drunk me got stupidly excited about)
Jackie Leven
Pulp
Blur
Arcade Fire
Babybird
The Earlies (leading to my mate's great bad-ace Liverpudian impression, "Fuckin' 'ell! It's the Earlies! Fuckin' boss!" a bit too loud in one of the set's pauses.)
Julian Cope
Laura Viers :)
Your Heart Breaks
Silence At Sea
Divine Comedy

Yep, completely agree, PE are ace , but I am MEGA excited to see APC and especially the Dr Octagonecologyst! Kool Keith is a complete genius. APC is indeed a reform I believe. It's gonna be a fantastic evening!

Also, to Pete, I agree about The Flaming Lips, fucking brilliant live! They are probably the most happy band ever.

Head of Steam? That's not the completely excellent railway pub in Huddersfield that has bands from time to time is it? (Almost certainly not, judging by the address I mailed your send-me-games cashy letter)

Do Glastonbury and Guilfest every year. Seen James about 10 times since the reunion last year too. Always brilliant.

Turns out Boris are awesome (like I didn't know that), I don't like Growing, and trend-fans of metal are idiots. Seriously, the band rocked out massively and my friend & I were pretty much the only ones going nuts. And I was holding a limited-to-500-copies album.

I might be going to Truck festival, but, to be honest, I find the idea of camping it up in a field with the great unwashed, frankly disgusting.

I saw Carla Bozulich (Evangelista) last night. Better than Boris by a mile. Better than every gig I have been to in years. She is fantastic.

forgot about this,

first act was piskie sits, who were pretty good, although hard to see as a main act as a small gig they are still worth a look, a bit like a scottish pavement in a way, although not as charasmatic, but theres not many as charasmatic as mr malkmus. may have overused and mispelt charismatic my drunk braincells are struggling.

second act was local band indoor fireworks, and small story I wasnt exactly rich on the night, since Ive just quit my job and my current money has to last quite a while I bought a cheap bottle of red wine to last most the night £.7.50, not bad for a pub and Ive had worse wines for similar prices. and I started drinking this when this band came on and the wine nulled the pain, by god, they are like the feeling mixed with scouting for girls with a big dollop of god rock, and half an hour later I had half a glass left, hammered. myspace, I cant listen at the moment and not sure how bad if at all he recordings are but heres the http://www.myspace.com/indoorfireworksmusic

frightened rabbit seemed pretty good aswell, but the singers voice was pretty fucked with flu but still good credit for playing on, would like to see them again when the singers voice is tip top and im not mortal as fuck. If anyones in brighton I think there playing with twilight sad sometime who are awesome as fuck and everyone should listen to that album.
