at least there's replay value with the ashes series.

I didnt get any of the player achievements during it. Probably easier to get the 500 runs in a series, or the 40wickets now I know what Im doing. I did only manage 3 centuries in my 4-1 win. (I lost the first test by being an idiot), and alot of the wickets were run outs.

maybe the 10 wickets by a singe player could be done online with bezzies? or does it need to be a ranked match? Same with the hat-trick and top hat-trick

Annoyingly, I got a hat-trick yesterday online, but with the same ball got my fivefour, and it only gave me the michelle achievement. However, I think the hat-trick was split over two overs, which is therefore a glitch.

Technically swanny is on a hat-trick on mine... as he got the last 2 wickets in 2 balls of the final test.. but I can't see it carrying on! :D

Hat tricks don't count over two different Tests, much as someone scoring three times across two football matches doesn't count as one, either. ;)

Don't they? I remember hearing on TMS they were saying that someone had one over 2 tests or something... I may be wrong tho!

It can count over two innings, but not two Tests, I don't think.

Yay! I won my first match... which admittedly was just a 20/20 friendly, and on Easy, and against Kenya, but you have to start somewhere.

I unlocked the 50 runs Achievement with Pietersen, who finished on 70-something not out, so was well pleased with that.

I appear to be reasonable at the batting, but my bowling needs a lot of work, as I found it very hard to take wickets. Still hopefully this will all come in time.

Absolutely loving the game though. :luv:

I only noticed last night that on the 20/20 team stats, Ireland are 3*, as are the West Indies. Zimbabwe are 1* so no real surprise there.

I'm more surprised that Ireland rank as 3* at all.

Hmmm, yeah. Perhaps a 2* would be better. They have beaten some decent teams, though, and in T20 the margins between teams is a lot narrower.

mainly because 20/20 is a lottery. It's practically a penalty shootout

I know this game will annoy me within hours and I'll not play it after the first week, but the Gs do look so so easy I am still tempted. Maybe I could get it on a 2-for-1 deal with a Madden game :D

A dose of :this: .

I'm stuck on the challenge thing of hitting six sixes, with the most I can manage being four. I've given up for now because, in a real match, if I tried for a 6 and only got a 4, it would hardly be a bad thing, so I've concluded that I can pretty much do it.

I can play spin, but get bored with that tutorial. I get the 64 runs in the first two overs then throw my wicket away. Stupid Riles.

For me, balls one to six were best despatched in the following order every time.

Drive
Drive
Hook
Hook
Cut
Cut

Ball 6 is a fucker, and you often get a no ball which ruins your rhythm.

I remember getting two no-balls in a row, so I managed to get six sixes after four legal balls.

See nickachu, this is how to bat in a Test:
Image

Lunch on Day 1 of the Lord's Test and Ponting won the toss (again) and put me into bat (again). Lost Cook for 19 after what seemed like it would be a cover drive for four got stopped in the in-field and he didn't quite make his ground. Strauss looks well-set on 44* and Bell is starting to get his eye in, too.

Tea on Day 1 of the 2nd Test!

I've not lost any wickets and Strauss has moved onto 89 from 207 balls and has occupied the crease for more than four hours. Bell's moved past 50 and is on 62 from 132 balls. The Aussie bowlers have yet to take a wicket. If I don't get 550+ from this position I'll be a bit annoyed. It's now 199/1.

it's hard to maintain a sensible run rate when you're used to limited overs. I tried my first test this afternoon and was 88-2 at lunch. The wickets were a stupid run out and caught behind off a poorly timed defensive shot. Sounds about right

First test victory last night. All four innings totals were between 150 and 200, and I won by 2 runs, thanks to my spinners*. Throw a spinner at a batsman early doors and he'll get overconfident and is likely to throw you a catch. Nervy though, when you only have 20 runs to play with and the 10th wicket gets 10 runs in its first three balls.

*As any sane england cricket fan would do, I dropped Panesar for the first test and played Sidebottom in his place. Sideshow didn't really have much impact and loses confidence really quickly, which does his aim no good at all as he isn't highly rated anyway and has a reticule the size of Berkshire. So Pietersen came on as a first change bowler and bamboozled the aussies with his slow, non-turning, looping deliveries.

I have a 20/20 final to play later, against New Zealand. Terrific stuff, but I do fear I shall be in trouble when I play something other than 20/20, and will find it hard to just try for singles and that, instead of slogging the ball.

I've also successfully completed all the coaching and challenges though, so that's one thing out the way.
