Yeah, if you scored 265 in about 40 overs that's far too quick. You're taking too many risks and that's why you're all out. :P

I know.

Run rate of about 9 it was.
I stupidly played lofted shots when I shouldnt have and miss-timed them.

Nevermind, just hopefully can bowl them out for less!

Managed 2 50s but no 100 :(

That's the sort of thing I hate about sports sims... batsman having strike rates of 200 in test matches, or running backs routinely racking up 500 yards in Madden. It just offends my sense of what a simulation should be... it feels more like a corruption. Which is why I'm not going to be buying this game after all. (I might still buy a Madden game cos of all the achievements, and I am far too American for my own good).

Sports strategy games FTW

Umm, yes, but nickachu is playing it WRONG. If you played against me, Riles or Curio, we'd be playing it properly.

But I'd also be playing against you, Riles or Andy (Curio, WTF?!?) so it would be awful either way.

Got this now from Game. Silly me paying over the odds. Oh well. I'm in an unspeakably foul mood so I didn't care. Though had I taken in one of a certain set of games (such as CoD:WaW or UFC) I would have received twenty quid off in exchange, which is a good deal for some dodgy games.

Ive got it on normal.
If they're going to bowl it short and not have someone on the square leg boundary, Im going to hit it there.
If they have no 1st slip and bowl it just wide of the off stump, Im going to hit it down to the 3rd man boundary.

You can listen to any music you want, as long as you put it on the stereo in the same room.

(I might still buy a Madden game cos of all the achievements, and I am far too American for my own good).

Last year was the first Madden I didn't buy since... oooh... '96? Partly it was not being able to get it on the PC, partly I tried the demo on the 360 and couldn't get to grips with the play-calling at all, partly it was the diminishing returns finally catching up with me.

One thing about the game that increasingly annoyed me is its edge toward the games-magazine rating system for rating players - ie, the only scores that get used are 75-99. There just doesn't seem to be anywhere near as much of a difference between average and great players in recent years of the game as there was even back in Madden 02 when I my quarterbacking options were Jon Kitna, Gus Frerotte and Akili Smith (all around OVR 65).

We now return you to your regularly-scheduled talk about games based on a different overlong, wilfully arcane sport.

Bowling

Dropped 5 catches already.
The manual says the reticle is orange it means the fielder "may" catch the ball. What it actually means is he wont catch the ball

I only dropped my first catch on the demo because I didn't know what I was doing. Do you have to time slip catches, or just longer ones?

Ah, so there are three options:

- In game commentary and SFX
- Stereo
- Wife moaning about not being able to watch CSI

I'm guessing my Audio out only permits one of these options to actually work.

He's talking arse. It basically means you can rip some music to your Xbox HDD (or a memory stick) and play it through the game, replacing the menu music.

Like every 360 game that exists, then?

Not quite. You can play music over the top of every game, yes, but not every game integrates it properly. For example, you can use a custom playlist on TDU and it'll play instead of the radio. You can't do that in GTA IV, which is a crying shame.

I sort of guessed.

Now, could I plug my ipod in through the USB and play music whilst I play the game? That would be good.

As would be a sampling programme that you could use to rip 5 second snippets to use as boundary/wicket music in a limited overs match. I'd be straight on there with the Benny Hill theme for run outs.

Ah, they might not actually. I think you can only make playlists from music which is on the hard disk.

Damn you Grim... for showing me that people are playing this together already! I won't have mine until tomorrow:

Quote:
We have tried to deliver your item from our BULWELL Delivery Office before 13:53 on 07/08/09 and we have left a while you were out card.

You can arrange a redelivery online, call the number on your card to arrange a re-delivery, or collect the item from your local enquiry office by bringing your card and proof of identification and address.

Unless they say 'leave 48 hours before collection' again, the cunts.

I have it waving at me from my desk.

Will only have time for a quick thrash when I get home. Will try to fit in a quick game after my wank though.

Oh is this what's wrong with the test? I'm not watching live TV, I'm watching Myp thrash Nickachu on the game! I see.

What's the score in the test then?

And why can't I hit it off the square in the demo of this stupid game then? Obvious answerers saying "because you are shit" or similar can save themselves the bother of typing.

Isn't this £25 in Asda at the moment?

I'm waiting for the end of the Ashes to buy it for a fiver. Although I did manage to hit it off the square a few times on the demo yesterday! I might get it when it's cheaper. Then you can all whoop me.

I can't work it out myself, but there might have been a moment, a turning point in the game I've just played with Riles where the match slipped away from him.

I've just spent about an hour playing the demo of this. I enjoyed it (on easy setting, mind you), and scored a few runs, but couldn't get anyone out yet when bowling.

I imagine I would do better for trying the tutorials or whatever in the actual game, because with only knowing the basics of the real sport, I've not really got a clue of which type of bowling is apparently best for the occasion, ditto for how to hit the ball when batting.

On the other hand... maybe having everything on the easier setting means I can just arse around and enjoy it, without getting too bogged down with the real rules and such.

Im still not very good at this.

I keep getting decent scores with one or two people, then the rest of the team out for 20ish runs each.
around 300 is an ok score I've found.
Bowled out the aussies for 200 in one innings and 100 in another.
Is only on normal mind.

I'm playing the first Test at Cardiff at the moment and I'm 86-3 after 26 overs. Bell is currently on 28no.

It's not very realistic.

Right, that's lunch on the first day and I'm 93/3. It's disappointing to lose three wickets early doors, but Bell and Colly have put on 50 for the fourth wicket partnership and look in decent touch. I'm hoping to get to the tea break without losing any further wickets.

Strauss went for 9 from 36 balls after shouldering arms to one that straightened, Cook (18) played a lame shot straight back to Clark for a caught and bowled, and Pietersen ran himself out for only 1.

Stuck it on easy.

ODI.

Managed 608 off 25 overs.

gave up after gabbs (gibbs) was out for 201 and just twatted the ball for 6 on every attempt.

Ai ai ai, 250-7 at tea. Bell went for 33 and Collingwood went for 30. Prior got 100 off 91 balls before edging to the keeper two overs before the break. I've now got Broad (11) and Swann (0) in. I can't see me lasting till stumps.
