Every computer keyboard I've ever used has placed the back(space) button on the right-hand-side. There's an almost equivalent logic.

You don't use a normal keyboard one-handed, as a rule

Only a minor thing, but after getting increasingly annoyed with Words With Friends and its stubborn refusal to stop vibrating on every notification (despite the setting being turned off and nothing allowing it at OS level) and Zynga not fixing it, I remembered that I saw a sequel to it, so gave that a try instead. Seems more or less the same as the original with a few more bells and whistles, but at least the damn thing doesn't vibrate now, so it stays.

Oh and I might now be addicted to the new 5 vs 5 Lightning Round feature that WWF2 has.

Anyone else found that the latest release(s) of Chrome are starting to turn into buggy, crashy messes? (And it's not exactly a zippy web browser any more, either. I actually use Firefox on the media centre PC for Netflix as it just runs it a lot better.)

Also there's something weird going on with the colour saturation that only manifests itself in Chrome. I've Googled it and I'm not the only one.

I'm getting quite used to seeing this on some webpages. Edge and Firefox do not have this problem.

I have sorted out the washed out colours in Chrome 62.

Browse to

Find the entry for 'Force color profile' (#force-color-profile) and set it to sRGB.

I now have normal colours in Chrome again.

I loved my Nexus 6P, then the battery went to absolute dogshit.

I have a bit of spare cash, so I'm tempted to buy a new phone outright, ride out the current contract (5 months left) then get a sim only deal.

So Oneplus 5T seems to be a no brainer, right?

Bastards.

Why do Google hate the Isle of Man so much? 10,000 public views would have made my channel eligible for monetisation, now I have achieved those views I get told this.

NO JUSTICE.

(Not that I would have monetised the channel, I believe it would besmirch the CREATIVE PROCESS, and it'd only be worth about £1.67p per month anyway, but I guess it links into how we still only get the free Play Store on the IOM, and have to VPN to get the full store.)

EDIT - Any of these countries would be fine though, Zimbabwe, Oman, Guatemala, Azerbaijan.

Can you not just set your country on your account to the UK, or is it geolocating you?

Author:  Hearthly [ Mon Jan 08, 2018 11:41 ]
Post subject:  Re: Google Android

Geolocating, which is why we have to use VPNs to get the full Play Store. (My ISP actually run their own VPN service as a freebie for all their customers, specifically for issues such as this.)

It's not even a problem really, as I wasn't going to monetise the channel anyway. It's more of a pain on YouTube as we sometimes get 'The uploader has not made this content available in your country' for some videos, as we're lumped into the 'Rest Of The World' category rather than a distinct country or part of the UK (and we're not part of the UK, so it's accurate in that regard).

So for example I get this trying to watch the latest Last Week Tonight video, so I have to VPN if I want to watch it.

Decided to get a cheap spare Android phone to use for work. I'd initially looked at small tablets, as I'll mainly be using it for running apps, so didn't plan on needing a SIM, but the cheap tablets all seemed a bit naff, so I went with a Spark X phone instead. For £70, it seems pretty good so far, and it runs Nougat, which my main phone doesn't. Some really mixed reviews on there, but figured it was worth a go.
