He's a wonderful old gentleman. The second series has a crew dedicated to following the Schnabels. Awesome.

I was the same with the Hoffman crew. It takes almost the entire series to really remember them. The old man Jack is quite daft. He keeps saying he's the only one who knows about mining, but then spends most of his time just randomly digging holes all over the place wasting fuel. Dorsey with the big Craster beard I actually liked, as he just kept getting beaten down by Todd at every turn. No wonder he's angry all the time.

Ace.

Dorsey seems alright, and certainly the most memorable so far. He wants to get things done and learn instead of shooting blind. But Todd is a right dick. I hated him from the moment he shouted at Dorsey for raising an eyebrow when the cable snapped in the first episode. By the time he shouted at him when Dorsey complained about the kids leaving food around, I just wanted him to fuck right off.

That's exactly the time I turned against Todd too. It wasn't even as if he was shouting at the kid, he was quietly explaining to him why it's a bad idea to leave food lying around. To be shot down like that over alpha-male territoriality... I just get the impression that because he had a more white-collar job of a real estate agent, Todd felt threatened by him.

Exactly. And you could see the kid smirking, too, the little shit. Todd is just an absolute dick. And now he's guilting his sister into lending him more money?

Season 2 is so much better, now they're following the Schnabel and Dakota teams as well. It really shows the Hoffmans for the fucking obliviously dense rookies they really are.

And I'm so glad they failed so hard at the end of season one :D

:DD Same here! I love that the "glory hole" really wasn't a glory hole of any kind. It was just an old man going mad and digging holes at random.

Amazing, isn't it. I laughed so hard when it said they were losing their lease because Dickhead Todd missed a payment, too. It really says everything you need to know about the team. He really reminds me of Ricky from Trailer Park Boys. Yet somehow less competent.

There were several times I had to snort in derision, like a sneering Cyril. Once when one of the wives mewled "God wouldn't have brought us up here for no reason!" when that's exactly what happened. How they kept thanking Jesus for putting gold in the ground, but not when he'd put shit in the water and almost killed their child. In the second series, how they kept bigging each other up with "this is the greatest country in the world" despite being in Canada.

Rumours have it that Todd was actually banned from ever mining again in Anmericar after the authorities saw the amount of shit happening in that series :D

:DD Amazing.

I'm not too far into season 2 yet, but I've just watched them drag the wash plant through a jungle  It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he was banned. What a tool.

And then they're being showed up at every turn by a sixteen-year-old boy, who's showing miles more both knowledge and maturity.

Series three started last week. I hope further ruination occurs. I dread to think of the damage these dicks would do in Guyana digging up virgin jungle like the grubbing bastards they are.

Are you a horror flimum fan? Do you like reading and watching things about horror flimums? Then why not watch Mark Gatiss' Horror Europa on iPlayer? It's dead good. Then try his three part History of Horror, which is even better.

Yeah it was great that. There was also another one of Rich Hall's excellent documentaries the other day, this one:

I'd've liked to see a longer section on the Blind Dead trilogy. Was nice to see him give a long segment to The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue, though.

Ooh, I enjoyed his series on the American south, so I'll certainly queue that one up.

Oh aye I watched that a while ago, some amazing footage and properly stirring driving but also some really rather sad parts. Ford RS200 is my favorite.

Cor. Episode 2 of the new series of Bering Sea Gold is quite, quite astounding. A new crew member called Dave freaks out in a way that I've never seen before. Quite amazing. Hope he's okay :S

About 3:50 on here.

Interesting Bill Hicks interview. One of his last, and you can tell he's not well.

People who like Things may like to watch Prescription Thugs by Josh Alexander. Gives quite an insight into practises of some within Rasslin and Uffuck performers. Former biffer Chris Leben in particular.

Wonderful doc on a brand new channel called *checks notes* Bee Bee Cee (somethings to do with men's genitals I think), aboot climbing Legend Eric Jones and his last climb at age 82. It am called The Last Climb: Eric Jones, surprisingly. Link for idleness: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m ... eric-jones

There's an excellent Arena up on iPlayer called A British Guide to the End of the World. It's Threads and When The Wind Blows levels of 80s nuclear misery. A fantastic part when a Italian born landlord of a pub in Derbyshire is outfitted with an early warning system that would blink if an incoming missile had been detected so he could warn the village. Except they hadn't given him any klaxons or sirens so it'd mean him riding around on his bicycle shouting "The Russians are coming" and hope that people listened. Great stuff.
