OK peoples, just a quickie.

How much would a taxi from Waterloo to Islington cost at 8am and how long would it take?

Also, how easy is it to heil a taxi in Islington for my return?

Dank you.

Waterloo Taxis are pretty cheap - ring up and ask them about prices. 020 8291 5000

Hailing a black cab will be easy, but expect to pay more (about £15, at a guess).

I take it you're carrying equipment so you can't get the bus?

Waterloo to Islington is a fair old trek, and at 8am you've got to be prepared to get stuck in traffic. Google maps suggests it's about 3 - 4 miles. I reckon you should be prepared to pay 20 quid, possibly more and it take 15 mins. If you're in a central bit of Islington and not stuck in some residential area, you should have no probs getting a cab back.

I'm guessing you'll be lumping equipment about, otherwise I'd suggest taking a tube.

Sounds reasonable. Black cab doesn't matter, I'm not paying providing I get my sums right (I'm having to work out travel expenses up front).

Gotta gig in Islington basically. So I'll have to train it up and then taxi it. As I'll be taking the 7am train I guess I'd better also budget for 1st class as the people in the packed 2nd class probably won't appreciate the size of my equipment.

Cheers.

B....... bu.........???????

Seriously, no. Not with the amount of equipment I'll have. 2 cameras + 2 tripods. No to the tube as well for obvious reasons.

I'll get into Waterloo at 7.50, at the latest I can get to the venue at just before 9.30 to be ready for 10. But the earlier the better frankly.

First class only costs a few more quid nowadays (mainly because standard is so fucking expensive).

Almost twice the price on my line.

Actually I've decided to shoulder the extra cost of 1st myself as that's a "comfort" decision rather than one I'd be happy to pass to the client.

Cor. It's only £8 on the Bedford - London train.
