Also, it's the standard cartoon cowboy way of dealing with baddies; leaving two tied up as the dimwitted one says, "Duh, I though' you said Marston wuz slow, bozz!" and the Dick Dastardly type whines back, "Shut up, Mimsyyyyy!"

Anyway, a nice breakfast now. When I return I'll post some photos. This I SWEAR.

Quite. They should be attempting to outrun coyotes in comedy fashion, too.

It took a wee while for me to get into this but now that I have I'm really enjoying it.

Favourite side quest so far has been the "Flowers for a Lady" one.
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Admittedly I was feeling a wee bit fragile last night, but the twist in the tale made me feel a bit queasy. I still hung around to hear what he was saying to her though :D

Favourite random occurrence was when I went for the first bit of treasure on the other side of the river. A wolf tried to jump me, so I jumped off my horse & challenged it to a knife fight. After I'd skinned it I turned round just in time to see a dozen wolves jumping at me :'(

Favourite multiplayer occurrence was joining in with the adventures of Dimrill & The Dynamite Kid. That & plodding across the entire map on a donkey because I didn't know how to fast travel.

Fuck me, this western is good. It's by Robert B. Parker and is called 'Appaloosa'. It's like The Magnificent Seven, but with two against thirty and a femme fatale thrown in to complicate things. Also, some twists. The characters are very well drawn - the main character being the helper to a Marshall called Virgil Cole, who'd certainly be played by a young Lee Van Cleef. Cole's a killer, but quiet and polite and honourable - but he is a little crazy. The chapter's are short, about five pages long on average. The story just rattles along and before you know it you're half way through. Well worth checking out. It's gripping and morbidly funny in parts. Written recently too, but it really knows westerns.

Yup, a good read. And I was sat enjoying my pancakes, bacon and eggs with maple syrup and black coffee. All I lacked was some top class Hank Williams and Roy Acuff playing, instead being fed a rather boring radio channel instead. A highly enjoyable breakfast-lunch, all the same. AJ's does good pancakes.

It's a film too? Cool. Have to check that out. :)

Only half way through though, be warned, might suddenly turn crap. Can't see that happening though!

Yeah one of the most freaky missions I've done thus far. Actual pure shock! Even though I'd half guessed it'd be something silly.

When you say "the last one" do you mean

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
where he walks off and you shoot him repeatedly and he's a ghost?

I was rather hoping there was more after that.

I agree with Craster.

Killing Cougars with knives is most annoying. They have a habit of running away.

Had to hand the Eggs Box back to my housemate. Boo, no more playing it in my room with the shiny 24" monitor. Back downstairs to the room with the humble 22". Only got two hours in today in total. Should have left the photo editing until tonight. Damn you Zardoz!

Must check that out. Have you tried Open Range? Costner and Duvall make a good team and there's an awesome shoot-out at the end. Also slow, but a rather fine, shortish film.

Wowsers. This game looks beautiful. Great intro, really sets the tone.

Dipped my toes into the multiplayer yesterday, but I don't really ‘get’ it yet. The gang hideouts are fun, I guess, but getting gunned down by a guy several levels higher, only to respawn practically right fucking next to him is annoying. I think I need to play it with bezzies.

I don't seem to be loving this game as much as everybody else. The single player seems to have lost of its charm after I left America for the first time, and I've barely been arsed picking it back up. I've endured Mexico in short spurts and managed to get to Blackwater, but I'm just not enjoying it as I think I should be. Oh well.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's not exactly gripped me so far but due to the unanimous, board-wide bumming I put this down to just feeling a bit jaded with games in general. I've been in one of those moods where I've got a bit grumpy with them and they all feel like a slightly depressing waste of life. :(

Didn't get to play any last night but I still like it. Some nicer people you can meet would be nice though, strangers who do you a good turn or just good gentlefolk who's share some homespun wisdom. Bit concerned that the map isn't going to feel quite large enough in the end though, judging by how large a chunk my regular circuit between Gaptooth Ridge and Hennigan's ranch takes up.

I hope they'll expand on the territory MMO style with more DLC's. Lord of the Rings Online was really good at this. I want the map to expand, don't know if they'd need different loading zones for that sort of thing though.

You do get a few, but it's a valid point. I particulary enjoyed the opening, when you got to do missions for nice people. After that, having to do missions for people I wouldn't touch with a barge pole was a bit jarring.
I spoke with Dimrill about the way they had to make all the majority of the stranger missions wacky a bit disappointing.
But I have had quite a few people gift me things with no proir interaction. And, of course, there are the campsites you can sit at to chat with people.

If felt large enough to want to quick travel by the end, despite not wanting to early due to enjoying horsing over the world.

I still haven't done much quick-travelling, due to wanting to shoot and collect things on the way. Sadly, I've started skipping a lot of the dialogue, though; everyone in this game loves the sound of their own voice. Get to the point and let me get on with the game, Metal Gear Redemption.

Can I have your PS3?

I must admit I've been giving games a lot less attention than I used to, only ever seem to play for a couple hours at a time every couple of days or so. But I can't fully turn my back on them, uh uh.

It's Summer so I'm out a lot more and I don't feel too bad about playing games once the sun has gone down.

I'm sure it's only a temporary malaise brought about by the sunshine. So no, you can't have my PS3. You can borrow it when we're away the week after next if you like.

I am loving this game. Only spent 7 or so hours on it, but I love the feel and atmosphere. Really feels like I imagine the wild west would feel like.

Cougars are bastards, but apart from that it seems a decent difficulty level. Really can't stop playing it!

Finished the story. The last section pulled it together again and returned to the form of the first few hours, but the middle was an unmemorable slog. Definitely a great game, but I did have to force myself to complete it.

Thanks for the invite Mr Dave. Sorry I didn't stick around long but you were a massive cunt I had a terrible eye ache that had been building all night, had to go to bed before it turned into a full on migraine. I should be around for more this week.

I think I'm late for the party, but I finished this last night, and it was great.

I'm glad they had the balls to string out a load of missions with the missus and Jack towards the end. So much so, that when I eventually (and accidentally) stumbled across that last mission, I was so infuriated with the little bowler hat wearing shit, that I killed his whore of a wife, tied up his brother and took him to the final showdown to watch as I killed the main man in front of him. He almost thought that he could make a run for it when I eventually cut him loose, but a buckshot of lead in his back made him think otherwise.

I felt so empassioned about taking revenge, I was sad when it was all over.

Best thing I've played in quite a while. Think I might try the multiplayer next...

Brilliant, wasn't it? You may wish to spoiler tag that last paragraph, mind.
