Some movies are such singular achievements that they deserve to be seen at least once by everyone who considers himself or herself to be a lover of film. Grave of the Fireflies falls into that exclusive category. The production is so emotionally challenging, however, that one time may be all that can be endured. Despite the artistry and care invested in the film’s crafting, the result is as close to traumatic as a movie can claim to be and watching it a second time is in some ways more difficult than the first. The power of Takahata’s vision is such that the initial reaction never fades. Grave of the Fireflies doesn’t need to be revisited to leave an indelible mark on the memory.

I watched 'Ghost Of The Fireflies' last night on a friend's recommendation. (She warned me ahead of ahead of time she's only watched it once and can't even think about it now without crying.)

It's a Ghibli film, which somehow I've never seen a single one of before.

The film transfixed me from start to finish and I was in bits by the end.

Definitely one of those to see once. But probably only once.

I was expecting Crank. I always expect Crank. Bring back Crank, bring back Crank, bring back Crank.

Strongly recommend just watching Crank.

Weirdly him and The Rock are the only reasons to watch.

The last 40 minutes of new Jumanji is just a bag o shit. Basically, when they stop acting like old farts it gets really generic really fucking fast.

5/10 for first 80 mins.

Watched "Colo(u)r Out of Space". It's certainly not for everyone but I thought it was great and one of the more successful interpretations of a Lovecraft story. Lots of body horror and truly disturbing nastiness with added maximum Nick Cage and a sprinkling of Tommy Chong. It comes across like the nastier cousin of Annihilation. Recommended.

Utter shash. I genuinely think it might be the worst film I've ever seen. Primarily because it is the sort of film that, on paper, should have enormous promise but it squanders it all away with gay abandon.
