Do you like zombie movies? Then watch The Girl With All The Gifts, it's great! And British! Make Britain Great Again. Etc.

Actually it's not great but it is good and hilariously pinches the story from The Last of Us. I sharn't ruin it for anyone cause I'd like to encourage people to watch it, but when two people work together to open a shutter you figure it must have been intentional.

Its got a great opener, a decent middle and then ... BAM ... the last twenty minutes are absolute dog shit. I can't understand how anyone watching this during a screening wouldn't have provided enough negative feedback that they'd have gone back and redone twenty minutes or cut it short and redone an ending sequence. It's a really great film for 135 minutes before a shit show of awfulness. I suppose it's a hangover that most zombie movies have. I can't remember a decent zombie movie ending outside of Night & Dawn of the Living Dead. Even The Walking Dead won't fucking end. ;)

Birdman seems very divisive - all the reviews on Netflix are either one or five stars.

That reminds me. Amazon Prime now has Milfs Vs Zombies. I've just a inkling that it might not be very good.

Not seen the movie, but the book it is based on (by Mike Carey, comic book fans) is thoroughly enjoyable.

Ah, that's probably why the last 20 minutes were so shit as they couldn't find it in themselves to depart from the source material (assuming it's the same). Like The Walking Dead.

I have never seen Birdman, but I imagine if I had, I'd disagree with Myp.

And then James Corden would walk in and inflate.

Post subject:  Re: The Movie topic

Last nights film was Left Behind which, I didn't realise until after I'd watched it, is described as an American Christian Apocalyptic thriller.

It was terrible. The plot revolves around Nicholas Cage and his daughter. Cage plays an airline pilot who is knocking off one of his stewardesses all because his wife has found God. His daughter has just returned from college to spend time with her family but Cage is off flying a plane to London. She meets a famous author/journalist who happens to travelling on Cages plane later on in the film.

During the flight, a load of people (mainly children) vanish leaving behind only their clothes. The same thing happens across the whole planet.

The rest of the film is taken up with the plane truing to make it back to the USA while Cages daughter tries to find her brother and mom and also figure out what's going on.

It turns out that all the people who have vanished are practicing Christians and God has taken them back to Heaven. There's a Left Behind 2 which probably carries on where this one left off and will probably explore what happens to the people left on earth because the budget couldn't manage a plane crash so it clearly can't manage Heaven.

Anyway. It was terrible. Probably the worst film I've ever seen beating Open Water which previously held that accolade!

The best film about people vanishing on planes is clearly The Langoliers.

You should watch Some Kind of Wonderful for some Lea Thompson that doesn't make you want to kill everyone.

Also it's one of my favorite films of all time, because I'm a fourteen year old girl.

The first band I ever played in did a song called Some Kind of Wonderful... In fact, now I think about it. That was the first song I've ever played live in front of an audience.

Dunno? Never seen the film... Let me see what I can remember from the lyrics...

1st verse
Let me taste freedom, feels like I'm flying above
Golden streams of sunlight, feels kind on my skin
There's no other place in this world, I'd rather be right now
I'm at the end of the rainbow where blue sky meets heaven, I'm alive

Chorus
Some kind of wonderful, take me to the higher (higher) some kind of beautiful, set my heart on fire (fire)

2nd verse
Slowly descending, the king of arrival

And that's all I can remember. Not bad to say I haven't played it in about 18 years. I'm guessing that's nothing like the film, right?

The king of arrival presumably rocks up on a harley to accompanying electric guitar and fireworks everywhere he goes.

Shame. Incidentally, we had a female singer in this band and she was all kinds of awesome in both looks and vocal ability.

The only problem was that she was extremely nervous about singing on stage and spent a lot of time before performing, throwing up.

She didn’t last long as our singer.

Yeah Moana is pretty great, Josie's bought the boat and everything.

I thought it was good but even though I could see that some bits were meant to be so, so sad and I'm normally a sucker for that I was left feeling totally unmoved by it all for some reason.

I watched three films:

Berserk: The Golden Age Arc 1 to 3.

It was reet violent and excellently animated for the most part. Within 5 minutes some guy's eyeball popped out following a sword through the brain and I was happy.

It got a bit Urocksockydojo (that Legend of the Overfean Manga with the tentacle sex) in the third one though and I had to close my curtains to watch the end for fear that one of my neighbours might look through the window when they're walking past.

Violent out of ten.

So, Grim...'s favourite movie is on Netflix, as it happens. I quite enjoyed it, but it's no classic. Nothing of any consequence happens in the whole movie. Aside from a few shifted relationship dynamics, everyone comes out of the movie the same way they went in.

Also, Eric Stoltz is disturbingly softly spoken throughout. Like Michael Jackson with Ross Gellar's inflection. Weird.

Duncan was funny, though.

Shifted relationship dynamics are basically the whole point of the film. Amanda gets out of a toxic relationship, Keith gets a load more confident, tells his dad to stop trying to live through him, and, of course, he and Watts end up together.

A good Day to Die Hard - so shit and uncompelling I spent the duration of the film pissing about on my phone. All I really took from it was: Blah blah something about McClane's son, shoot some pesky ruskies then let's go to, for some reason,.... *DUN DUN DUN*... Chernobyl. Also, Jai Courtney is not a good screen presence. Really shit.

End of days: I love a good Arnie film, but this isn't one. I hadn't got round to watching this (same for Eraser...I think), but it was on telly the other week. It seemed pretty dim witted plot wise: oh noes, Satan has returned. Luckily Arnie is inexplicably tough and able to survive long enough SHOOT TER DEVL WITH DER GUNS, and then when the devil doesn't die, MOAR GUNz. The actor playing the baddie was quite charismatic though. Normally Arnie's woodenness doesn't bother me much, but this was some dull stuff, it seemed very low-rent.
