My Avengers boxset arrived today. Deliberating which order to watch them in - provisionally as such:

Captain America
Iron Man
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2
Thor
Avengers Assemble

Any disagreements?

Whilst I am not particularly a big fan of Hitchcock, I think you’ve got slightly carried away in your enthusiasm for Robocop there. It’s a good film and all, but it’s really in the same vein, and calibre, as a lot of other 80s films.

True, Showgirls was a misstep, but I reckon if it was made in Dutch with a Dutch cast and set in Amsterdam rather that Vegas, it'd a be cult classic.

Get 6 TVs and DVDs set up and watch them all at the same time for the true epic marvel experience. Or the order you have looks pretty good, although I would be tempted to skip Iron Man 2 as it doesn't stand up well against the original imo.

I've actually already seen both Iron Mans (Men?), Hulk and AA - I don't seem to have a problem with IM2 as I thought it was only slightly poorer than the original.

I don't care about the edit -- although it is curious. However, that link had tipped me off that the US BluRay has a Joss Whedon commentary track that is missing from the UK release. So I think I'll import that then.

Apparently the sainsburys edition has the commentary (this is getting as bad as pre-order DLC) and is £15 today.

No it doesn't. It has a bonus disc that has a ninety minute documentary, which, by all accounts is mostly rubbish. I'm still waiting for my Sainsbury's and HMV orders to arrive.

I had the HMV Steelbook and Sainsbury's exclusive delivered about fifteen minutes ago (to one cunt in particular, who'll no doubt read this, it may have been more than fifteen minutes, it may have been less but I really wasn't bothered about noting the time when my postman knocked). I wish I'd kept the Amazon.de order instead of cancelling it when I found out that release had been edited as I didn't realise the UK release was also edited until the day before yesterday. The German release was a Steelbook and included the Sainsbury's bonus disc, I would have saved myself £15. Oh well.

I also have the Phase One briefcase on order with Amazon.com but that's been delayed until next year as Disney are very silly.

It's not really part of the Phase One series, but I like it, so I include it. It works as a loose prequel to The Incredible Hulk, anyway.

Late to the party as ever, but a criticism I saw of the purported new Robocop was that it looks like a guy in a suit, whilst the original more nailed the idea of it being a robot with bits of a bloke welded in.

And Robocop absolutely is a classic, by the way. I'm not a massive Verhoeven fan, but he really was at the height of his powers with that movie.

Based on that and other leaked images. It might not be the finished article and I am only repeating another criticism of it I saw, so we'll see. I'm not exactly excited by the prospect of a Robocop remake though.

Having looked at the leaked, allegedly-real concept art and the couple of leaked stills I'd agree it doesn't look great... but I think that's scant evidence to make a judgment on.
