Either way can we really except Disney to not react as they did, being as they are a rapacious corporation concerned only with profit and image?

The thing about the Disney thing is that it shows bad faith.. They must have known about the tweets and were okay with Gunn working for them. He makes them a shit load of money. These tweets resurface (maliciously, no-one stumbled over them, they were sought out) and Disney sack him. If they were being 'good citizens' they should never have hired him.

Its sacking someone over the 'optics', when they should have just released a statement saying 'It was a long time ago, he's already apologized twice. We were aware of the tweets when we hired him, and are happy to have him as part of the Disney family,so go fuck yourselves.' (last part mine, obv.)

Jumanji remake is just utterly, utterly brilliant. One of the most entertaining films I've seen in a while (having to explain to the kids some of the penis related jokes Jack Black comes out with was entertaining in and of itself)

Pacific Rimming 2 is awful.

Concur on Jumanji. Ace film.

Gunn made Tromeo and Juliet. If they were okay with that I struggle to think what they've got to object to.

Oh fuck off with that nonsense. It’s a daft comic book movie with a few good jokes but is actually flawed, has some pacing issues and missteps with very boring cinematography and poor CGI moments.

Van Wilder was his masterpiece.

The first Deadpool is very good, but not perfect. My main gripe though is the same for most superhero stuff - the lack of any real peril during the action sequences as the characters are virtually invincible for the most part. Although I think the worst offender in that regard was Man of Steel - the end stuff of smashing through buildings was bloody tedious.

To be fair, after The Proposal with Sandra Bullock it’s hard to say which is RR’s best film.

Yeah Nu Jumanji is a good film.

Really enjoyed Cargo last night, very emotional zombie(ish) flick.

Watched ‘Would you rather’ straight after staring Ricky from Trailer Park Boys and a familiar looking brunette ;). Not too bad.

Watched that Sweet Virginia is it? last night due to the mention here. Not bad, not bad at all. Very unusual film.

We watched Bright the other day. It was reasonably enjoyable, fairly interesting concept but slightly fumbled perhaps. Reminded me a little of The Warriors with the perilous chases and escapes across different turf.

But - what happened to Will Smith (and his career)? Seemed quite clunky and off-note all the way through.

Die Hard 4 has plenty of faults, but I've rewatched it a good few times. 5 I saw in the cinema and the only thing I liked was the use of 'Doom and Gloom' on the end credits.

4 is great, it's a very good popcorn action film.

5 is not as good, but it does have beautiful Bruce Willis's face for two hours.

No, McClane with a SAW is worth the price of the admission. Granted it’s not the f35 scene or Kevin Smith, but still worth a watch.

He's not really John McClane by the time we get to A Good Day To Die Hard. He's not *really* McClane in Die Hard 4.0 either to be brutally honest, but I can forgive it because Timothy Olyphant is as menacing as hell in it - even though his plan is balls and makes no sense, he's far more menacing than any of the other Die Hard Bad Guys™

I went to see Mission Impossible: Fallout yesterday.

AND IT WAS EXPLOSIVE!

High octane for at least 83% of the expectedly bloated runtime. Even extended scenes of Cruise just running flat out across London were fun. You know he’s like 56 years old? Then watch him do some of his best Kung Fuck You as he has a bone crunching scene in a loo.

There’s so much I enjoyed about it and without giving too much away here’s my thoughts in a list:

1) Interesting cinematography;
2) Fantastic fight choreography (whoever they got to do this. Get them to do some more cause it was stunning);
3) Excellent fight direction (not too many cuts and I was never lost in a fight. I knew where everyone was and what they were doing. I’d prefer a nice wide shot as it looked like everyone was really going all out and the fights probably looked good without any cuts, but it’s really good as is);
4) Excellent CGI (In fact there’s only a helicopter sequence that really pissed me off. Some simple CGI moments were just amazing and made you wonder how they did it)
5) There was a story. I didn’t care for it but no one came for the story.
6) The moment to moment action was fab. The last bit of the film is dragged out for too long and probably needed reworking. An extended helicopter chase is a bit boring, but the inevitable crash was good, but then the final fight is a bit lacklustre. Some of the car chases were a tiny bit long too. Tom does a skydive. Again. They keep it interesting but boy he loves to skydive in his films.
7) How come Cruise is like a gentle God and the other characters don’t get much of a look in? It’s just a vehicle for Tom Cruise to ponce about. The other characters could probably be used more effectively but I’m happy with what we got here.

Conclusion: This is your Summer Blockbuster movie so go watch it and have super fun times.

Cool, will likely go and see it tomorrow.

I’m rewatching Days of Future Past - it is probably the best Xmen film, other than perhaps Logan.

For both the Die Hard and the Mission Impossible films (oh, X-men too) it's got to the point where after the first couple, the later films in each series have all sort of melded into one indistinct lump in my mind and I can't remember if I've seen them or not, and if I have seen them I can't really remember what really happens in each one.

I suppose "fun but forgettable" sums them up. "Kinda boring and forgetful" would accurately describe me.

The Equalizer 2 - 'This time it's perfectly balanced' is heading to UK cinemas soon.

I very much enjoyed the first one but the UK release will once again be suffering from cuts, so you might want to 'import' a US release or wait for the STRONGER HARDER UNCUT release in the UK, if we ever get one.

Annoyingly, and as is usually the case, it's being cut for a 15, an uncut 18 was available.

Dunno it sounds OK to me:

Quote:
"The Equalizer 2 is a reasonably well-written and (of course) beautifully acted serving of geriatric-virility violence porn, with Washington on the trail of Leo's assassins."

Quote:
"It's slick, violent, fast-paced, well acted but by-the-numbers summer fare."

It's got Friday night film after a generous amount of spritzers written all over it.

Denzel is always watchable and I like seeing him kick ass. (See also, Man On Fire.)

I saw The Equaliser 2.

Dunno why they thought they needed to lean harder on his backstory. Felt like they're building a franchise more than making a movie perhaps.

Still fairly enjoyable.
