Another yes from me. Saw it on Thursday on a 'superscreen', and really appreciated the scope. Also thought it was bloody great, super screen or no.

James Bond Spectre is pretty dull. It seems to lack any atmosphere.

The Lego Ninjago Movie is okay.

Some genuinely funny parts, and some other bits of silliness that made me smile, but it didn't seem to hang together quite as well as the first Lego movie (to my shame I haven't seen the Batman one).

Also, having watched all of the Ninjago series with the child, it was weird how different this was from that, despite them throwing in a few references and nods for those who know the source material better.

AT-ATs marching. Metal suited badass captures and turns over the rogue with a heart of gold. Young protagonist starting to tap into their force capabilities trains with a Jedi master in a remote location, but has to grapple with embracing the dark or the light side (45 seconds in she is literally fighting the divide between dark and light).

Plot twist

Blade runner. Not been to see a film that sounds so mercilessly incredible for as long as I can remember. I felt every gunshot, my stomach turned with every bass sting. Looks perfect. And the sexy time was something else.

I think I'll wait for the blu-ray of Blade Runner and just go and see Death of Stalin in a few weeks instead.

Films I've watched on Netflix recently -

Death Note. I see that it got a lot of criticism for the whitewashing of the characters. I don't really see that as too much of a problem as they re-set the whole thing in a different country and changed the aspects of the plot quite a bit and trimmed the whole thing down. The problem is, those changes all made the film worse.

Pandorum. Could have been a decent horror/sci-fi thing. I liked the story, but wasn't fussed on the action sequences.

Amazing Spider-Man 2. Christ.. a film that doesn't know when to end. When Electro is first taken down, there was still nearly 90 minutes left. Quantity over quality

That won't do it justice. It really needs to be seen on the biggest screen you can find with the best sound system.

I'd have to see it in the afternoon. I seem to have developed a problem with cinema-induced narcolepsy, even when it's a good film. I just get comfy and then the long blinks start.

Problem is you've stopped taking class A's.

Well my bank have sent me six free cinema tickets, so maybe I'll be seeing Blade Runner in the cinema after all.

This is why everyone should have a 100in screen and no immediate neighbours dictating surround volume.

I’m going to see Blade Runner again. At the cinema. Which is bloody rare for me.

Whilst I accept the cinema can be the best way to experience certain films I think a decent home setup can come pretty close, all you need is a fairly sizable screen, a proper 5:1 or 7:1 sound system, and a comfy couch. (I've got a 5:1 sound system that I bought with my original XBox360 some ten years ago that's still doing sterling service.)

Plus bonus points for the home arrangement are:

1) None of the great unwashed eating crisps or fucking about on their phones or generally being a pain in the arsehole.
2) The ability to pause if a comfort break is required, or getting a drink, or suchlike.
3) You can replay a bit if you missed what happened or some dialogue.
4) Other things I can't think of right now.
5) Also the cinema is quite expensive if you go regularly.
6) You don't have to travel to the cinema and like, park up and stuff, if you're just sat on your own couch.
7) You can eat reasonably priced popcorn and other snacks in your own house.
8 ) The sound can be a bit too loud in modern cinemas.
9) Sometimes you may have to travel through undesirable areas to get to the cinema.
10) You can have subtitles when you're watching a film in your own house.

I've just Googled the cinema in the IoM. Where are you getting your experience of modern cinemas from because it's certainly not anywhere on the island.

I went to the cinema at Liverpool One yesterday, there were closed captions and about 4 other people in there. Seats were fucking huge and comfy, and you can easily take your own sweets in.

Downside - stupid kid didn't want to watch Blade Runner. Stupid, stupid kid. So we watched Kingsman 2, whatever that's called. It was terrible. Best thing about it was the two old dears sat on the front row giggling and nudging each other the whole time. They were much more entertaining than the movie.

Picturehouse at FACT was the cinema of choice in Liverpool when I lived there. A bar with decent booze just a short sprint downstairs, between the screens and bogs!

Except for the downstairs 50-seater screen that was all sofas, then it was a short sprint upstairs to the bar.

Eh. Turn up 25 minutes after the advertised start time and never see any of that. Also, I can't remember the last time I saw any kind of anti-piracy chat before a film.

This has only ever been a problem for me once in the many years I've been going to the cinema. Not saying it doesn't happen, but you must go to some shitty cinemas for it to be a regular thing, a decent cinema will kick people out for this.

Most cinemas these days don't seem to give a shit about you bringing in your own stuff, not even the big chains, in my experience.

As someone who has horrific hearing sometimes, I always have subtitles on when watching films at home, but the volume in the cinema means I don't need 'em there.
