Where’s my John Wick 3 trailer?

While we wait here’s some meaningless Ghostbusters 3 teaser.

That's my favorite bit of the trailer, too.

It’s not giving much away. I’m glad they didn’t show many action sequences to be honest.

Turns out I only needed to see John rocking an AR-15 with dual mags in a mag-link to get fully erect.

Sounds of the wickedness... actually, the swishy zingy sound effect when they pull out or swing a gun around was a bit irritating in that trailer.

I’ve watched it a couple of times (with my pants off) and I can’t hear this noise. I can hear a swishy zingy noise with the katanas but not with the guns. Although his custom P30 does have this unusual (for films at least) tinny noise when fired so many that’s what you mean? Or maybe it’s the sword noise? I dunno.

Tonight we watched Ouija: Origin of Evil. Crap name, but directed by Mike Flanagan, who did Haunting of Hill House, and featured some of the same actors. Very much a psychological horror, although it had its share of jump scares too. 7.5/10.

Film Review!

Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol

Tom Cruise suspects Hawkeye is on his team and spends 90 minutes trying to get the other Avengers to appear. They don't.

Watched Marauders yesteday. Bruce Willis phoning it in and Dave Bautista looking like he's been cast in the wrong film by mistake. Lost interest halfway through when I couldn't really care less who the good guys and bad guys were, but it picked up a little at the end.

Black Panther hasn’t got a hope in hell in getting best picture. Maybe the Oscars are desperate to show that they aren’t racist.

Best animated feature is looking more interesting.

Quote:
Animated Feature:

“Incredibles 2,” Brad Bird
“Isle of Dogs,” Wes Anderson
“Mirai,” Mamoru Hosoda
“Ralph Breaks the Internet,” Rich Moore, Phil Johnston
“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, Rodney Rothman

I heard a lot of negative reviews about that when it came out, focusing on like sexism or racism or stereotypes or something. I forget. But then subsequently I heard a lot of positives about it too.

Spider verse would definitely be a worthy winner. Excellent movie.

It's the best animated of all those films. The animation is a goddamn work of art. As a film? I enjoyed it about as much as I enjoyed The Happytime Murders. Which is quite a bit. But not that much. A solid 80% score.

Ralph 2 was perfectly fine. Doesn’t deserve an award, but better than a lot of crap I’ve taken my daughter to see.

I think Annihilation should have got a shout out from the Academy for something technical. The visuals, effects and sound were all top notch.

2018 best visual effects went to Blade Runner (hard to complain about that: it was gorgeous) but I can’t find the nominees or the shortlist. I didn’t look for long though. Tch.

So I watched A QUIET PLACE last night and whilst this is in true in the driest sense, the arc of the story and the characters and the 'point' of it all is completely different.

As such I don't think the two films negate each other or feel like they're covering the same ground, TBH I didn't even think about Bird Box whilst watching A Quiet Place.

Pretty stern stuff for a PG-13 I felt, I see it got a 15 in the UK which TBH feels about right to me.

Anyway, I really enjoyed it, very good film.

I think this forum needs to reach a consensus as to whether Predator 2 is a classic film or not.

Rewatching it I loved it (kinda) but it’s got some large annoyances that I’m finding very difficult to look past.

Hnnngh.
