Are well all forgetting The Animated Series? Oddly, despite being a huge Trek fan I don't think I've ever watched it! |

Discovery is pretty good, I think. It could do with some more space pew pew but I understand that's expensive. |

I'm three into Discovery and I'm really enjoying it. It's miles from the Trek formula - and better for it, I think. I have no idea where it's going. |

It's awesome apart from the first two episodes and one other near the end, which are merely ok. |

Post subject: | Re: Star Trek |
Yes, the first two were clearly scene-setting and a bit self-conciously plodding as a result. But the payoff in the third was worth the wait. |

I think my main problem with it was klingons speaking in klingon. Because it made me want to rip my ears off. |

I have watched 8 episodes of this now, which means I am nearly caught up. I very much enjoyed episode 7, which features a character from an earlier episode. My wife and I did both come to the conclusion that the episode was slightly weird because said character looked really quite like me. |

I mean.... if it’s a spoiler for this week’s Trek, people were already talking about it. And if it’s a spoiler for TOS, then fucking hell it aired in 1967. Statue of limitations. |

I saw elsewhere what can only have been a total guess about Lorca pretty much as soon as he appeared on screen, that we now know to be correct. |

I still dislike to opening theme music, and the design of the Discovery (especially the spinnging ring and silly flip move it does before jumping). But it's a great show. Saru's makeup is excellent. |

Something I am very much enjoying is: for all of the apparent predestination inherent in a show set ten years before TOS, I have no idea at all where this is going. |

I like this a lot. However, I still get really pissed off that the federation ships are really very shit at fighting other ships in space. Like terrible. And if, as stated often, they're intended to be science and exploration vessels, then maybe also have a navy, and hand over to them when war and shit happens. |

Maybe they'll finally explain what happened to the Klingon genome! Ref Trials and Tribbalations. Perhaps its related to the massive touchscreens and muted colours being replaced by clunky switches and reds and golds. One of these days they need to remake TOS to avoid the dissonance. But then they'll have to make Trials and Tribbalations not have happened. HM. |

Interesting chat with Lorca here. Contains spoilers for episode 13 As an aside Jason Isaacs is a good follow on Twitter, certainly doesn't hold back when people tell him he shouldn't have opinions about shit because he's in Star Trek. |
