Well even though it does not launch until next week there was a 9 gig patch today and after downloading it - the game is online now with a warning that they are tweaking / getting things ready

Movement feels so much different on here - you dont 'flow' around the map - you need to stop / move / be precise to get in a door

Yip - really not used to the controls / movement on this - watching back i can see where I make mistakes or even where i'm trying to slide into cover but there is no slide so i crouch down and get killed :-)

I also have vague memories of the maps but a lot more of them are from remakes rather than the original (I came into COD really at 6 so MW2 and have hardly played any of the original online)

On the plus side on one map i did get a 10 kill streak which was nice :-)

I wonder if some of the glitches and bugs are still in it like climbing on the fences on that level with the road filled with bombed out tanks across the middle and that.

I gotta say, the multiplayer is still corking. I remember all the maps, where to stand, where people spawn, what weapons I enjoy and the shooting is so satisfying. And no one is jumping around like an arsehole. Yippie.

This got notably more widespread and annoying in IW over the course of the weekend. Although as I suggested last night, I think that this could be because we were playing with Curio and Zaphod on our team who have both prestiged, and this may have changed the dynamic of our matchmaking conditions compared to earlier in the week.

Which is possible , although we were playing with people on multiple prestiges last night.

FYI the 'bounce around not touching the floor but shooting everyone with pinpoint accuracy) is also in BLOPS3 , along with the spawn camping (just on more maps than the lemon stand)

Oh wow, I had forgotten about some of those ones! I can't remember if I loved or hated the really open one where he shoots down the chopper; probably depends on how badly I did that game.

Still no Creek (my personal fave) but these are awesome. I was really missing Pipeline especially after AW had an awesome version of it.

Is Creek the one (everyone - "with the creek") that has the house that you can get on the roof of at the top of the hill, and there's a waterfall near the bottom and a cave and a ridge above the creek?

I bloody loved that map. Once had the flukiest game of hardcore search and destroy on it where my entire team died without taking out anyone, and I snuck around with a silenced G3 (I think) and killed absolutely everyone. Good times.

I dont know if i've just been unlucky or if they have changed something about the rotation , but in the current 'summer party' playlist I've played a few rounds of

'Shipment'

And all I can say is WFT ?

Its a map that's too small to have 3 people on it and there are 12 or so - explosions everywhere and if you shoot or throw a grenade your likely to be kicked for team killing :-)

It's a fan favourite (next to MW2's Rust).

I played a game of hardcore Killhouse yesterday, which is a bit larger than Shipment, where absolutely everyone was using noobtubes and grenades. Out of the twelve people that started the match only 5 survived getting kicked!

The kill count was through the roof though.

The remake of rust in IW is quite good and i've had a few games with 50+kills on it - its one of those maps where there are camping spots / sniper areas and some good run'n'gun areas

Given the maps have been around since December I'm surprised i had not seen it before this week.

Oh and an annoying bit for the way they have handled map packs on this - last night when i was playing you were on a game on a 'normal' map that i had , with open slots - i tried to join - it got all the way through to the end and then said you were in a lobby with a map pack that i don't have.

(I do remember COD5 used to put you into a lobby and it would give you a few maps you could play and then you would get a DLC map and everyone would get kicked out - it looks like COD4 just splits it - if you have the map pack you go into one lobby - if you dont you go into another)

I'm pissed off about it because last year I bought the super duper everything in one pack and then its another $20 for this 'extra' map pack

No AC130 type scorestreak in IW / nothing even close (they really messed up the scorestreaks this year)

In all seriousness though, this is a remaster of an 11-year-old game and I doubt the OG PS4 will have any issues running it. Plus I don’t have to shell out any extra money. :shrug:
