Important FACTS for this thread

1) Excite Truck is FUCKING AWESOME.
2) Excite Truck was CRUELY FORGOTTEN ABOUT.
3) I've seen the occasional mentions of people saying Pure (for the 360) wasn't 'all that'. YES IT WAS. YES IT IS.

Right onto scans...

Hmmmmm. Current status: Hopeful but worried.

EDIT: I don't like posting scans but I've not seen anything bar this, just now, and I'm excited.

EDIT: EDIT: Box implies Wifi this time.

Pure really, really wasn't very good. The only thing that's cruelly been overlooked is Baja: Edge of Control. Once you get past the excreble Baja Bugs, the rest of the car classes are awesome fun.

I can see why some people might not want to do some of the longer races (like the Baja 250/500/1000), but you really don't have to. There are plenty of short races to do.

In a way it reminds me of Super Skidmarks on the Amiga...

I loved Excite Truck, I can't wait for this.

Dull tracks with a repetitive tricks gimmick; horrible rubber banding; no real sense of achievement moving up the classes; some races far too long for an arcade-style racer.

Your game bone is broken.

I only recently managed to get 100% on Excitetruck, fuck the challenge mode is hard. Still have the achievements to get, but apparently there is nothing else to unlock.

I will probably buy this at release, after (criminally) ignoring Excite Truck until just before Christmas.

If I had a Wii, Excite Truck would be one out of about three games I'd be interested in.

The tracks were varied and for the most part fair. Some fuckstupid blind obstacles and only one obvious route of choice on far too many but not even vaguely a gamebreaking amount.

Repetitive tricks in that there were 3 classes of tricks each usable with one of eight directions and then tweakable? It was very SSX and the risk/reward mechanic of trying to pull of that extra trick or rotation to get more boost before crashing onto your face was not far off being 100% spot on.

Rubber banding. It existed but was only about 50% as face stabbingly cheaty as the Burnout series.

Classes - the jumps and trick opportunities were far more plentiful once you moved up the classes.

As for race length - I've got the attention span of a hyperactive 3 year old and it never bothered me so that's just one to chalk down to your absolute wrongness.

Your entire gaming skeleton is made of Boursin. Weak AND smelly.

Oh Mr Chris. All is forgiven.

It's been a while since I played Pure but there was no significant rubber banding. To the extent that I could lap people and build up massive leads.

Some races too long? They were all tiny, especially the Espresso races that took about a minute. I can't think of a race longer than outrun 2.

Maybe it was because I was so utterly bored by the tedium of it all, I just found them long.

Surprised at how myp seems the only sane person here. Pure was bad. It looks great for about 5 races until you see how shallow the whole experience is.

Excite truck is one of my favorite racing games of all time. It's criminally underrated

Do you let your hands take turns writing paragraphs, one writing truth, the other lies? In the morning do your hands both hold seemingly identical lunch-boxes and children have to solve riddles to work out which hand is holding the full lunchbox.

I assume you do because it's the only way I can comprehend your post.

Saying that ET is far far superior to Pure. But that says more about ET than anything. Second only to Outrun 2 as far as arcade racers go.

Excite Truck is awesome. I don't keep many games - anything less than purest, purest awesome gets traded in. I even recently traded Super Smash Bros Brawl and I love that. (MInd you, that was a moment of madness I now regret.) Anyway, I've never thought of trading Excite Truck in. It's here to stay.

I tried the Pure demo, but didn't like it very much, for the record.
