I've just caved on Deathsmiles for 360. £8 from CEX.

I need to learn how to recharge the jewel counter thingy on that. There's some trick you can do just as it drops to zero that makes it shoot right back up to 1000, which can lead to some seriously massive scores.

Anyone want to tell me whats going on in Deathsmiles? What modes are people playing?

Also bought Bangai-O. Why the fucking fuck do you only get the tutorial once you've bought it?

You should also be able to select "Fury Mode", which is the main game.

Deathsmiles 2X has turned up on the American 'games on demand' thing.

2400M$P.

I don't know if it's possible to grab it via a yank Xbox account or not though and there's no talk of a PAL version yet.

Pisser. Looks like an easy max.

Rising Star Games have just announced at the MCM Expo that they're bringing Akai Katana Shin to the PAL territories! (And as it's RSG, there's a good chance it'll work with US machines, too.)

DDP Resurrection is out on Friday, too. :DD

Decent price drop, but I've recently bought Deathsmiles Sp Ed for £9.99 so I'm not wanting another shooter just yet.

That's the one where the new modes (that aren't on the iPhone) cost extra right out the gate right?

Arrange modes A and B are both on the disc. Black Label is an 800-point download, but that was always DLC. It's a completely different game, like. They all are. :)

Guwange and Silvergun are both half price this week (400 and 600MSP). They're both excellent and rather lavish ports, with more display options than you could possibly need. :)

What's the deal with the stars that the enemies drop? Do you just have to dodge them (THERE'S BAZILLIONS!) or absorb them somehow? Feel like I'm missing something with that mode.

Ooh! May just add some points and yoink Silvergun. Haven't had a good Shmupping for a while - should really give Otomedius a go as well.

The PAL version of Raiden Fighters Aces that's been in limbo for ages has been picked up by DTP and might be coming out on the 30th of March.

Aye, I ordered it with ShopTo fucking years ago and the release date has always been "TBC". Tradewest were supposed to be releasing it originally, but they're up shit creek. Hope this DTP bunch don't suddenly go bankrupt!

Thought about getting SSX today, but decided against it at £40. Gonna wait for a drop in price. Instead I picked up DoDonPachi Deluxe Edition and Deathsmiles Deluxe Edition for a bloody tenner each! You get soundtrack CDs in both! Result!

Sorry! DDP was a tenner (brand new) in GAME. Gamestation had DS (also new).

DDP regularly bounces around the 10 / 12 mark its currently 12 at both play and amazon (£10 at game / gamestation but out of stock)

Deathsmiles is £10 at both Play and Amazon: http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/18 ... fer=search

I also grabbed Dynasty Warriors 6 for a tenner because I Music Magpied it and regretted my decision... But that's not a shmup!

It's nice getting three games for less than you'd normally pay for one.

Notice how all three begin with 'D' because I was looking for Dynasty Warriors 7, truth be told. Couldn't resist the shmups seeing as they've been in my Amazon basket for ages.

The 360 has an incredible back catalogue. If GAME does go tits up, I'm getting down there to pick the meat off the bones of their second hand stock.

Rising Star Games have added an Akai Katana page to their website. It's now available to pre-order for £22.79, and will be released on the 27th of April.

Sounds like the embattled project to bring Raiden Fighters Aces to the PAL territories might finally be dead. The publisher (DTP) filed for insolvency a couple of days ago.

Date for Akai Katana up there is slightly off, too. It's coming in 12 days according to ShopTo.

Amazon.de have got Raiden Fighters pegged for a release on the 6th of July, so I suppose there's a chance it's still coming out in spite of DTP's situation. Might place an order and wait to see if my money's taken. :p

DDP DFK is currently on sale for under a tenner at ShopTo, if anyone was interested but didn't fancy spending much on it.

A new STG from the developers of Eschatos has been announced. There's not much info apart from the release date (2012/08/30), though. It's called "Ginga Force". No, really.

I don't know if anybody here played Dux, the indie Dreamcast game released a few years ago, but they're doing a sequel to it, and have started a Kickstarter for it. It'll be on iOS and Steam, too. If you like the idea of an R-Type game with a scoring system, you may want to bung them a few quid.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/red ... -dreamcast

Ed: or not - it seems they've reached their goal.

(Sorry if it looks like I'm using this thread as a personal news blog! Feel free to tell me to get tae fuck.)

Satazius is currently selling for peanuts on Steam, as part of their summer sales. There's no excuse for not picking it up at that price (or at that place - it was admittedly a bit fiddly buying it from a Japanese distributor). :p

Ed: I think Jamestown is on sale, too.

Blazing Star is out on iOS and Android. Excellent Neo-Geo shmup from Yumekobo. Dunno what the European price is, yet, but it should only be a couple o' quid. :)
