I assume that should be pronounced 'hends-fud'. As with Wednesday, how on earth did our crazy ancestors ever think it made sense to put the 'd' before the 'n'?!

It is indeed. I remember the football results man on BBC used to have reet difficulty when they were in the conference.

Aye, but they got more well known after that cup run a wee while ago...

The word "snooker" always sounds weird to me if I think about it too much.

My favourite word is "syzygy" because it has a deceptively clunky spelling yet a slinky sound.

I thought it was the word for when you bite (without teeth, really) onto something, like a boob.

And speaking of rudeness, I should dig out my 'rude onomatopoeia' list. I remember 'fap' being the sound of male wanking, 'shlick' the sound of female wanking, and 'num' being the sound of cunty-lickus.

It's happened twice in Krakow. At first I'd have thought 'yes, it is a pounce' because Kia jumps onto Case and starts chewing his head. But no, because she also 'glomps' onto the arm of the sofa and chews it too, simply by leaning to one side (and not using your arms, as is typical with pouncing or hugging). So, er, yeah.
