I'm in need of a new chair and looking round for one that is suitable and doesn't cost the earth is annoying me.
What kind of chairs do you use at the PC and does anyone have any recommendations?
I use it a hell of a lot so it has to be sturdy, adjustable and comfy. I need support, as I have a muscle condition as well as sitting here a lot.

Who's going to make me jealous with their uber chair first then?

When I first started out on my own I bought one of those cheapo faux-leather office chairs from PC World and suffered awful back ache as a result. The one I have now is much better. I'm not sure if this is the exact same one I have, but it looks like it and it's around the same price. I wish I'd forked out for a decent one in the first place rather than trying to save some cash.

I'd definitely say if you're going to be sat in it for hours and hours at a time (like I am) it's well worth for health reasons spending extra on something that will do the job right.

We've got Mirra office chairs at work, and I have to say, despite looking a bit shit, they're the most comfortable I've ever used. I sit on my arse for 9 hours a day and no problems so far.

I have a knock-off aeron chair. Basically it's a lookalike, but instead of costing 700 odd quid, it cost me about £250. Can't remember for the life of me where I got it though. Instead of being all mesh, it just has a mesh back and a normal base.

On the other place I did post a link to someone selling almost new Aerons for about £250 which is a bargain. Again, I can't find the link.

I have One of these but I wouldn't recommend it for long periods of sitting in. Anything cheaper would definitely not be suitable, you really have to invest in a good quality chair.

If you spin around in an office chair with your arms and legs sticking out, and then draw them in your spinning speeds up. Try it! Its fun.

I wouldn't recommend skimping on an office chair - if you're going to be sitting on it for 8 hours a day you may as well spend a couple of hundred extra if you can and get a decent one, rather than suffer back ache.

I'd love a decent one, I like the looks of hairs posted here so far but all are out of my price range sadly.

I didn't say cheap, I said affordable. I cannot afford those prices.
I'm not dead yet, and mines a bit naff.

Is there somewhere you can grab second hand ones cheap? Bankruptcy sales or clearance stores or something? Even if a good one is a few years old, it's probably still better than a cheap one.

You can pay around £60 in Argos or wherever and end up (literally) on your arse in six months time when the plastic legs crack and the plastic arms snap off. I know from experience.

Second hand sounds good, to get something durable and safe. Set your budget as high as you can and see what you can get.

Well this chair cost me around £50 and I'm on a budget of about £100 max.
