Someone try this please? Click here and scroll down. Click "download demo to my Xbox". Sign in to your Live account. Then go turn your Xbox on and see if it gets the (now unavailable) Left4Dead demo.

It's a backhole on the "queue downloads on the website" stuff in NXE. It might not last long, assuming it still works.

Change the US to a GB, He Gaywood'd up the link.

Also, deleting a demo as soon as the game is released? Actions of cocks.

Also, the Steam demo has timebombed itself in to being a preload for the full game. Before I found anyone to play it with.

Oh well, it's not like I've got any money anyway.

I quite enjoyed the demo and can see how it would be fun with mates, but it felt (and looked) a bit like a cheap Half Life2 mod or add on. Were it priced at, say, £25 I'd have maybe bought it, especially if a few others had.

I inda walked the demo, didnt really get damaged at all. I assume it was on Normal difficulty.
The weapons didnt seem to be too fantastic and the aiming was a bit iffy for me, but again I didnt tweak any controls.

Will probably pick it up when its cheap in stores.
But by that time maybe the Aliens Colonial Marine title will be out, with pretty much the same premise but from the looks of it bags more atmosphere and set peices.

Fingers crossed for that one.

What part of "I'm unemployed any only have enough cash to pay a few months rent...and some biscuits." means I can buy things on Steam? (Also games that split opinion and had a demo taken down sharpish aren't getting much money from me)

I did say "if you buy it!" It's a lot cheaper on Steam -- $50 I'd believe. I'd be very tempted by the 360 version at £20ish.

The demo getting taken down was shit though.

Borderlands could be excellent, given it's co-op. All tooling up and jumping into dune buggies to explore the desert together sounds like the win. But Gearbox have a problem with making good games.

And Brothers in Arms. And that people talk about them with much veneration when they haven't really done anything truly great.

I *am* looking forward to Borderlands and hope it turns out well, but I have my doubts Pitchfork and co can do it.

Just been playing versus mode in the full game for the a couple of hours. I can officially confirm that it is splendid. Closest thing to Aliens vs Predator i've played in a long time (in fact since AVP2), playing as a hunter is a hoot, leaping from rooftops and ganking the survivors.

It's also amazing how much faster things fall apart when playing the survivors in multiplayer, as soon as someone gets separated they get descended on by a horde of zombies (and many chuckles ensue). Inevitably, no one gets out alive (at least in any of the games I played).

I keep having a recurring nightmare at the moment, where I'm surrounded by hordes of zombies and can't run away past them.

Then I wake up and realise it's this game. :(

It certainly wasn't there last night when I looked for it. I certainly wouldn't be getting it without playing it first and now that I can't do that... screw 'em.

Shame, as it is rather fun. Limited but a lot of fun even with randoms playing versus.

I've got the PC version, and I'm sure there's at least one or two others who mentioned getting it in some form. Buggered if I can remember though.

It's a great (and hilarious) game in co-op mode with your mates, but single player with bots just doesn't feel right.

They'll also need to release some expansions PDQ because there isn't much variety in the types of zombie you face, weapons or equipment and with only four campaigns (even though every time you play the zombies appear at different times, in different places and in greater or smaller numbers) you can see practically everything there is to see very quickly, seasoned FPS'ers even more so.

The harder modes are a real challenge, however, with more and tougher zombies, fewer pick-ups and less ammo. It becomes more of a survival horror and less of a good laugh, however.

This is the best multiplayer game on the 360. If you/we were regularly playing four on four versus games, this thread would probably be as long as the Fallout 3 one. I'm slightly shocked and appalled that Left4Dead's profile round these parts is so low that you can't even vote for it in the forum's 'top games of 2008', and it's languishing in 5th place in the 'action/shooter' category. You've forced me out of posting hibernation because I'm bored of waiting for it to come down to what everyone/myp has pre-judged is a fair price. Buy it now! It's in the very small club of games I haven't felt like a fool for paying £35 for on the week of release, and because it's online and very very good, it's not likely to flood the second hand market any time soon. You will grow older while having less fun if you all continue to wait until the price plummets in the way you're hoping.

Sort it out.

It is seriously good fun. Played 4vs4 Versus for the first time tonight, and can't believe how much I enjoyed it, and that was playing with crap people who didn't speak. Well worth the £40 I paid a while ago.

The Versus mode is splendid. It is amazing how much quicker the Survivors fall apart when playing against a decent set of human players.

I was given this game for chrimbus. Maybe not a game I would have chosen myself (too fast and pc-y) but I like it a lot so far.

Me and the GF played it in offline Co-Op last night and had a lot of fun. Got hopelessly lost though.

It's kept its high price because it's so good. Got the Untouchables achievement (take no damage after contacting the rescue vehicle) the other day - seriously good fun. Got Crownd by accident, too.

4 levels, and it just gets better the more you play each. Add human opponents and it's chaos. Awesome.

I have no doubt it's a good game, but the problem is circular: no one here is going to buy it until enough others have; it just isn't worthwhile otherwise.

Just played the first chapter with randoms livians. No voice chat - so it wasn't FAGLOL!1'd up..

It was awesome.

We were all holed up in a building waiting for rescue with hoards of them outside. When Bill get's tounged by a smoker and dragged out.

Bill had saved me loads in the game so whilst the others just stood their watching him get beat to death I stormed out in the sea of the zombies - shouting (to myself) that I "LEAVE NO MAN BEHIND."

And I got him back too.

Great stuff.

It's interesting without voice chat. You have to be so incredibly onyour game to keep track of eeryone; you can't save yourself from special infected. A good team can be like a fortress if you're playing as Infected. It's fucking ace.

Me and the GF played through Dead Air with two random Livians. Seems to be replacing Mario Kart as the best 2 players on a couch game against the internet game*.

The demo put me off, but getting it for a prezzie means I've given it another go and I'm so glad I did. And that's before I've even looked at versus mode. Isn't that what jonarob(?) said? if so I agree.

* Shame we have to be Skeptobot and Skeptobot(1) rather than let her use her silver account. Bah! That and tempted to pick up a second headset so we can both hear what's going on.
