In fairness, Zio, she probably spent an awful lot of emotional energy writing it, so, y'know. Stick it in a drawer and come back to it in 18 months time.

Stick it in a drawer and forget about it, would probably be better.

Well, yes. I mean "Stick in a drawer and, in 18 months time, if you are still bothered, then do something about it, by which time the odds are you will have forgotten about it"

On an entirely unrelated note (I don't want to post twice) has anybody heard anything about L'il Mr Christmas's wellbeing? MrC has been missing since posting that his son was due a stay in hospital...

That's tremendously sucky. I do hope the little sir is okay!

Mr. Afterthought - I know mate. And 'stick it in a drawer' is exactly what I will do. One of the points of it was that everytime she sees me, hears from me or about me, it reminds her how fucked up the situation is and it upsets her too much. So now she would rather avoid me and everything to do with me. And as we stand, that's exactly how I feel about her too.

Who knows what will happen in the future, eh? I'm not going to waste anymore time and energy speculating.

- Went to see NHS Clinical Psycologist for the first time today. Man is an arsehole. Told me that since I was already seeing a private counsellor (at the fucking suggestion of my GP) it would be 'unethical' for him to see me unless I ask my private counsellor to immediately remove me from her books. I told him 'no thanks then' and left.

That's pretty standard practise to be fair. In his shoes I would have done the same thing. Indeed if a client comes to me for remedial massage but is also visiting another therapist, I would refuse to treat them without the other therapists permission and having discussed the problem with them. But that's physical stuff anyway, no way would I jointly treat someone where mental health was concerned.

If you're getting on ok with your councellor then I shouldn't worry about it too much anyway, if it's depression you are being seen for and not something you would need CBT for, then it's pretty moot (unless you can't afford the therapist obv).

Then there's always us. 8) :)

Post subject:  Re: Bits & Bobs 5

I dunno, it was just his whole attitude about it that got my back up. My private counsellor has packed up for Christmas and my next appointment with her is in mid-January. She knew I was seeing the NHS guy and we talked about the fact that I might not actually end up going to this next appointment as a result, thus technically I may have already finished with her. This wasn't good enough for NHS guy when I explained it to him and he told me that I should go back to the private counsellor in January, decide then if I want to continue treatment with her or not and if not, call my GP and they'll re-arrange for me to see the NHS guy - but I'll have to go to the back of the waiting list again. He told me that until I did that, he would not see me any further.

This was all after explaining how busy he is, how he won't give people full appointments anymore because of the workload and how if I miss an appointment for any reason I get immediately removed from his books and would have to go back to my GP to get signed back up again and join the back of the waiting list, again. He also answered the phone to someone while we were talking, which I don't really mind but seemed a touch unprofessional. He just generally didn't seem at all interested in seeing me. Put it this way: I could see why he was free to see when private counsellors cost £50ph. So, whilst I really can't afford many more sessions with her, I'll stick to the private one for now.

Cyanide is a gas, or a salt if you have it as potassium cyanide, either way it won't sparkle in a glass. You could dissolve some of the salt in a glass of champagne should you wish, but I would go for the gas myself. It smells just like marzipan, so will be all christmassy for you.

On another note, I hate Christmas shopping.

If you want to make your own, crush the pips of about 150 apples. The almond smell released is the cyanide within and that amount should be enough to kill the average adult.

Hydrogen Cyanide, the chemical oft called Cyanide in popular mediums, has a boiling point of 26 degrees, and so is usually a highly volatile liquid rather than a gas at room temperature. (Let's ignore the fact it'd be quite hard to get your hands on HCN in the first place for Ms Christies books. We certainly only used KCN in labs)

Been thinking about March time America trip today. I'll be buying a plane ticket this month or next. Apparently we'll be going to Virginia City for four days, which has a population of 1,500 and is in the gold hills of Nevada, right near Lake Tahoe. There was a gold rush there, and it boomed and busted and became practically a ghost town. There's touristy gambling, civil war re-enactments and a hillside cemetary called 'Boot Hill'. I want so go so bad and hunt for Lee Van Cleef lookalikes. :D

It means you're probably not wrong. Depends on what the temperature of the room is. Anything around 26ish and you could have a bubbling clear liquid. In the same way that if it was about 100 water would be a bubbling clear liquid.

From Wikipedia (like the Delphi Oracle, but with more 'Star Trek')

Quote:
In the 1950s, two Virginia City neighbors got into a dispute.[5] When one of the men built a new house, the other bought the lot next to it and built a house less than twelve inches (305 mm) from his neighbor's house in spite to deprive the neighbor of both view and breeze. The Virginia City Spite House still is standing and occupied.
