Hah! That gets better... I'm just at the bit where the car dealer has posted a clearly made up gracious and exonerating response from his potential customer :D

When you're writing the blurb for the back of a DVD case and you mention the name of an actor you're contractually obliged to follow it with two other films they've been in that a prospective viewer might have seen, right?

Pity the poor bastard writing the blurb for the Highlander DVD who has to find two more Christopher Lambert movies. They've gone with Mortal Combat and Subway (whu?), when it might have been more honest to try Highlander 2 and You Know, That One Where He's In The Prison.

My colleague has failed to come to work and now I have to step in to do a series of four presentations this afternoon to assembled managers and medical professionals about something I have had no involvement with, excellent.

Do the same presentation that Fran did in Black Books.

I actually love doing doing presentations so I think I'll probably just stick with plan A, stand there wanting the earth to swallow me up and mumble through it whilst turning red and feeling sweaty and then if there are any questions I'll either burst into tears or feign sudden illness.

Funny you should mention that, I'll double check tonight but I'm almost certain that Mortal Kombat Annihilation credits one of its stars as Dave ActorName (Mortal Kombat Annihilation).

The last presentation I did, the end slide said "Be aware any questions will be deflected with use of pictures of cute kittens."

Someone tried to call my bluff.

They don't know me at all do they?

I just wrote this to my girlfriend on MSN...

Quote:
The Nintendo Gamecube was going to be called Dolphin. I wonder if they planned to have it dolphin shaped, back then, before the cube was chosen. I suppose a games console that can be killed by tuna fishing wasn't a great idea from a PR point of view.

More animal related nintendo naming nonsence-with the often quite sily, ridiculed and 'offensive' name of the wii, nintendo were planning on renaming it the nintendo cash-cow.

It's taking a while but I've been letting my PC 'preview' the season overnight. Another day should do it - torrents seem to bring Xbox Live to a standstill so I've been doing one or the other.

Now that I've finished Fallout 3 (well, being a good guy, anyway) I thought I'd start Story mode on Warriors Orochi 2. To sum up -

- Same graphics (not too fussed - there was nothing wrong with them)
- Lots of re-used sound, particularly speech from the less-important character which got repetitive in the first game, never mind this one.
- Horrific slowdown from the start. The first game had one or two bits towards the end, but this has it all the way through. Unless, they actually intended it to be a mini-game of 'rotate the camera around so as few enemies as possible are on screen'
- Seems easier than the first game - got to the end level pretty easily. However...
- The end level on the Shu story mode was ridiculous. Orochi was easy enough to get to but uses some cheap attacks while my allies decided to glitch all over the place like epileptic breakdancers. Took about 30 minutes longer than it should've done.

Worse bit - when you complete a level, you're asked if you want to save. I always choose no, as I tinker with the newly-found weapons, then save. Unfortunately, if you do this after completing story mode, it prompts you to re-load your last saved game, meaning I've got to the last bloody level again.

Didnt it also get the name starcube or starbox or something considered too?

I think dolphin was the codename because of the ATI flipper video chip.

I do remember the rumours in mid 2000 of the Starcube name too. I kinda like that name better. I suspect they changed it to sound more 'grown up'.

Here's irony for you. I'm sitting in the corner of the room working on something that needs to be finished tonight. Shin is sitting in the corner playing on Bomberman with Joans, Sheepeh and some others.

All I can hear is "Oh fucking bollocks" and assorted other Shinisms, so I turn my music on.

"Would you mind if you turned that down a bit please?", she says.

Is that why you invited me to a party?

I have to apologise for ignoring you, though. I was round at my girlfriend's hammering away on the drums on Rock Band 2, while she sang and her brother desperately attempted to keep up on the guitar, then completely forgot you'd messaged me. Those rhythm games are an arse to pause!

I really should get Bomberman. Is it worth however many points it costs?

I got it a few weeks ago and its fun but when i logged into the system tonight one of the 'adverts' on the front of the myxbox screen said 25% off Bomberman

I went to the store part to check but it wouldn't give me a cost since i already had it but if its on special now its really a no-brainer

*EDIT* ah according to Major Nelson its now 600 points

whens the high score deadline? mind you I cant get anywhere near that score, its surely a one off.

You'd better start to think what game we're playing next week. I can't see anyone touching that!

Any CPC, Spectrum or C64 game as long as you haven't played it properly for 10 years. Needs to be a game with a score.
