Well, it is technically 1080p@60. That's the mode my telly is in, there's no traditional novsync tear and it does 60fps nearly all the time. It's just a more complex illusion achieved with tricksier smoke and mirrors than usual.

My Megadrive is "nearly" 1080P60 when run on my monitor then.

Which is totally false and unfair statement and comparison. But hey, not an argument I'm going to have with you because I tried to make it completely clear I'm not drinking the "wow1080p60allthetime" koolaid.

I'm just saying Wipeout isn't 1080P60 that's all (which it isn't), you're the one that disagreed.

It is, some of the time. You're making a statement as false as the popular one.

No, I'm not good at backing away from the internet.

My sister has rang me not 20 minutes ago and said my mother has been taken into hospital as she cannot breathe properly-they are keeping her in for observation.

I was talking to her at 2pm today and she was coughing badly, she said she had been to the doctors and he said she may have bronchitus and so had given her antibiotics-she obviously hadn't even managed to taken them before they rushed her in

If anything happens to my mum I think I'll lose my mind-I don't know what to do because there is nothing I can do for her :'(
I'll have to shout and scream about my wages AGAIN that I am STILL owed so I can get down and stay with her

Hopefully it'll just be because she has bronchitus and it needs clearing up, it doesn't help shes back to smoking like 30 a day now :s but she says she enjoys them so won't be persuaded against smoking-tbh it's too late really for her to stop as she's been smoking for well over 40 years now.

It's just with Uncle having cancer, my other one having unstable angina and now mum in hospital it's all a bit much

It's never too late to stop, I cannot abide smokers who bring smoking-related diseases on themselves. Having said that, I hope your mum is OK, although more for your well-being shin.

Recently both of my gf's parents had health scares, her mum had a biopsy to check for lung cancer, and her dad had some kind of occlusion on his lung that might have been something nasty but turned out not to.

What fucks me off right royally is that both of them are fucking chimney pots, but as soon as they had the scare they both stopped smoking, as if it would do them any fucking good to stop then and there. Now the scare is over, they're back puffing away, I believe. I have absolutely no sympathy for the stupid fuckers if they end up dying of something they've brought on themselves.

but smoking is 'enjoyable' isn't it?

*smug look from lifetime non-smoker*

Hope your mum's ok Shin, but smack her with a plank every time she reaches for the lighter, that'll stop her 'enjoying' her poisonous filth

I survived the north and came back with a decent haul of presents. Including a Dyson, which was most generous. It half filled the box hoovering half of the living room.

Off to see my parents today.

Hope your mother gets better Shin.

I'm sat at work doing nothing apart from listening to how hungover everyone is and how awesome/crap the works do (which I didn't attend) was.

It's my last day until 5th of January though. YES.

Try to keep as calm as possible Shin. The phones will be manic this time of year.

Hope your mum mends quickly.

:this: The hospitals are always overflowing this time of year.

There is no point of getting stressed about it, just keep trying

Hope yuor Mum gets better Shin, and do try to encourage her to stop with the smoking. 'Tis sad when addictions become the most important thing to people and end up hurting them.

I have just got through!! I have been told she has something known as COPD which affects the pulmonary artery...that's in her heart then!? She is struggling to breathe and I am now so frantic I don't know what to do with myself!!

I'm going to read more about COPD and see if I can better understand it

My Mam has that too Shin. It's a narrowing of the veins from the lungs, like asthma but not very reversible. Caused by smoking.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a disease of the lungs in which the airways become narrowed. This leads to a limitation of the flow of air to and from the lungs causing shortness of breath. In contrast to asthma, the limitation of airflow is poorly reversible and usually gets progressively worse over time.

Oh my god I am so upset

Stupid, stupid, stupid cow! :'( :'( :'(

She has asthma aswell and suffers from bronchitus, I mean wtf is wrong with her?! This is the worst year ever FFS I fucking give up I really fucking do!

You were being the bigger person, and in years to come when her anger fades, this will likely worry at her for the rest of her life. I'd take pleasure in that, but then I'm a twat.

More likely she'll forget all about it entirely.

I would have sold the tickets personally.

It probably isn't much consolation, but COPD is one of those hot-button things in the NHS that everyone is super-keen about dealing with. I'm sure she'll be given the best of care.

I read some of the letter she sent me again today as I was bored. It pisses me off each time and makes me that little bit more glad that she's fucked off, the daft cow.

Amazing the difference one little letter can make, eh?

I don't think it's healthy to dwell on it, and especially not in such a spiteful frame of mind. Put it away and leave it (and her) alone.

Why don;t you get rid of the letter, or put it away and not read it... you do need to let go and move on..

Burn the letter. And the tickets. And the presents.

Then forget about her forever.

All wise ideas. Honestly though, worry not excellent friends. The presents got handed to a mutual friend of ours last night in order to give them back to the lady in question, the letter will get put away tonight and not looked at again (the only reason I have it on me is because I'm wearing the coat I had on when I received it and had so far forgotten to take the letter out of my coat pocket). I very much agree that it is time to move on, but sometimes things like this aren't as unhealthy as they appear as they help with coming to terms with the fact that it was all simply not meant to be.

And as spiteful as I do occasionally sound, I know she's hurt and really I only want her to be happy again. Just happy and away from me preferably.

TALK MORE! I've already called Helen into The Den 3 times for spurious reasons, such as to examine her little finger, and now she won't come in anymore. Come on!

I too am bored Dimmers...ramsea is in bed with flu, the boys are out playing, I finished work at 12 for nearly 2 weeks and I'm bored already.

There is nothing on the internet*.

I'm thinking about playing LBP but I can't be arsed switching the ps3 on.

And there is nothing on tv.

Maybe I should do some housework....meh, don't think so.

*Please do not take this as a challenge!!
