Grandia is an exceptionally tedious game. Playing it on a very old Playstation with a shonky laser does not help.

However, Justin and Feena must get to Alent, so I'd like to copy my save games from the Playstation so I can continue Grandiaing on the PC or on the PSP.

I've tried building this

but I just ended up melting my parallel port connector component. (Not the one in the computer, one I swiped from a cable)

Has anybody else built one of these which they'd like to sell? (Or trade for a copy of Gitaroo Man Lives! maybe?)

Wow, I remember trying to build one of these using the contoller ports I stole from my mates playstation (after I'd broken it with a failed modding attempt).
I'll assume I didn't have much success though as I eventually gave up and bought a dex drive (which uses a serial port rather than a parallel port), which to be honest might be your best bet if you can find one.

Sir, we have our differences, but that there has made me laugh and agree with you the most ever. It just has. I have no idea as to a solution, sorry.

Check eBay -- there was at least one commercial mem-card backup device for the PSX 'cos I remember reviewing it. Lord only knows what it was called, though.

I have a commercial one but unfortunately it's only compatible with windows 98 and doesn't work with XP.

The DexDrive - I used to have one, but it used an old fashioned serial port, and I haven't seen one of those in years.

I managed to copy my saves by using my PS2 which has uLaunchELF on it, which allows me to copy saves from PS1 memory cards to USB mass storage.

I could've copied it all along! Who knew?
