I currently have exactly £68 in Gamestation credit notes (One for £29.99, one for £38.01). I'm had them for ages and am unlikely to use them any time soon, but I need the cash. I'm fully aware that you get bugger all selling them on.

So! Is there anything I buy from Gamestation that I can sell on for a small profit, or at least a very small loss? Sales outlet would be Amazon or Ebay, who of course take a fairly large percentage. I've been waiting for one of their "New Game for £20!" deals or at least for the 360 Hori sticks to come back in stock, but it's not happening. Can you fine people think of anything?

(NB: The credit notes can't be used online)

Guitar Hero II/III.

Also, the Hori sticks are regularly in Gamestations near me, for £20. In fact, I saw some this week, as I have done every week for the past few weeks now, despite people continuing to buy them from there. Maybe the Midlands is just HORIDING THEM ALL.

Ooh, good call Sir. That's a definite possibility.

It is, yes*. It's the only thing in Gamestation that isn't wildly disproportionate in price to eBay prices (fancy Panzer Dragoon Saga for £85? It's in my local) - and you might even be able to sell it at a CEX (if there's one by you), for a very slight profit, if I'm hazily remembering the prices I saw last saturday with any kind of correctness. I have been in Gamestation a lot lately, heh.

Failing that, some kind soul might care to buy your credit note off you. Not me, sorry, too many games already, this month.

No CEX near me, sadly. (fnaar)

Can't imagine anyone buying the notes - what would be the point? Vouchers are Shitcash™.

Gamestation gut the games they sell so you won't be able to resell them as new, but I don't think they do that for hardware, so you could always pick up a controller or whatever that's in a blister pack and resell it as new.

Or you could buy some 360 points, and then someone here could paypal you the cash for the number. Which is an inconvenience but gets you the money dunit.

Apart from that I don't really know.

People seem to pay about the same on Amazon whether something is "New" or "As New", oddly.

I think the 360 points route would involve more loss than the Guitar Hero route.

Personally I'd pick up 2 or 3 of the PS1 bundles that my local store have lots of. Break it all down and sell the games on individually. Might not be a suitable option if you want a quick return though.

Ooh, hadn't thought of that. Not sure there are any in my local though (it's a small one). I do have about 5 PS1 games, and they're worth precisely fuck all, so I'd have to be careful of what it came with.

Alternatively, before doing any of this it may just be worth seeing what people on here would give you for them, if you could get say, £25 and £30 for those too it's likely to be more than you'd get by reselling stuff and a lot less hassle.

Do they expire?

Maybe you can wait until some kind of Soopah Expensive Desirable Console (I dunno... something that goes for a high price? A Sega Nomad? One of those boxed SNES games?) comes along, and floggo that?

Finally managed to get to Gamestation yesterday, and... They've fucked it up. The shop has been re-arranged and the prices increased - buying Guitar Hero 3 and reselling it would lose over a third of the value of the credit notes. They did have a second-hand one but they wanted £5 less than the new price...

The PC section is now tiny. And against recent news, there is still a retro area with terrifyingly high prices.

There were far fewer people in store than usual... So is this Game's management attempting to kill off Gamestation? Or what?

Yep, the one in Nottingham has turned into the same. Very disappointing.

£68? The RRP of Wii Fit is £70.

It's going to be in huge demand.

Get Gamestation to save you a copy and you'll easily make your money back.

CEX have been a joke for me for some time now as well. They sell on DS games for basically the first-hand price. £26 for Super Mario Bros? Well why don't I just pay full whack, then?

Their demise won't cause me sleepless nights though. I've felt a bit of a heel when it comes to buying recentish games from them, and the staff really are incredibly Comic Book Guy.

Maybe 'The £68 Gamestation challenge' is somebody challenging Game to ruin Gamestation until it has a value of £68.

Maybe it's a plan to ease congestion in Gamestation branches. Certainly the one in Newcastle-under-Lyme is always heaving. There's been a few times where I've put something back on the shelf as I've not wanted to stand in their queues any longer.

I have done this several times in York. If a product is the same price in Gamestation and HMV/Zvarri!, I'll go to the latter, every time. They also play invariably fucking awful music, and the bloke in front of you in the queue is trying to trade in twenty PS2 games, haggling over the price and trying to find two valid forms of ID. Life's too short.

Gamestation -started- in York, so it's always been a mystery why the shop here is so staggeringly shit compared to places like Colchester.

Exactly the same in Norwich, up until a couple of weeks back it seems.

The Game branch which is 50 feet away is always heaving. Mainly because it's stupidly small (probably as there are 2 other branches within 5 minute's walk...)
