Fuck me that was fucking brilliant Dr Who.

That must have been Moffat right? Soooo glad he's taking over.

Yes, it was Moffat. Only bit I didn't like about it was the repetition of certain lines. "Donna Noble is no longer in the library. Donna Noble has been saved." being the main one. There's no reason for the "computer" to say that more than once.

There is if it's an echo.

Moffat has now managed to scare the shit out of kids re: statues, shadows, libraries, and being inside their own heads. Next: the Doctor vs. cracks in the pavement. And it'd still be a fine episode, too.

Haven't seen it yet, looking forward to it later.

I wouldn't be surprised if he actually did this and it was indeed awesome. Really, I'd reckon quite a high chance on him doing it.

Yeah, there's no reason at all for it to repeat. But it does. Creepy, eh? Very Stephen Moffat.

It's creepy enough seeing Donna's face stuck in a bit of concrete (echos of Love & Monsters, anyone?) without the repetition.

In previous Moffat episodes, the repetition has been spread out a bit. The "Are you my mummy?" repeat is in character with Jamie so I'm not bothered about that. "We did not have the parts" in Girl in the Fireplace is only repeated as an answer to another question. "Don't blink" is spread out throughout the episode... see what I mean?

The cracks on the pavement idea is genius, though. Be interesting to see what he'd do with that. Like, the paving slabs are actually sentient beings and the cracks are their way of breeding - i.e. they start off as one giant slab and, through mitosis, split up into lots of other slabs. Or something like that.

I think the girl 'ghosting' is one of the most incredible emotional moments in Doctor Who this series and possibly since Human Nature/Family of Blood.

The

:this:

I genuinely felt a bit chokey throughout that bit. A brilliant idea, and a very affecting one. :'(

I'm thrilled that this episode was a genuine avalanche of mysteries. The girl's world seemed quite strange as well, it had quite a dream like atmosphere. I loved it. Certainly the best so far this series, 5/5 from me.

As I said ('in another place'- Ed), its got a very Matrix-y feel to it... I'm guessing that Donna will turn up in the girl's 'world', as it exists in the library computer. Being 'saved' literally means being saved, as in 'computer file'. I assume that there's some way of getting Donna out again.

Between the neural doodads and the library's storing of "flesh" (I guess "DNA and stuff") there seems to be plenty of scope for reconstituting people.

It would be incredibly brave to write out a major character like that but I doubt that's going to happen.

Donna can't die - she was in the trailer for the next episode, and not as a head on a stick either.

And that's why I hate their stupid fucking trailers.

To be fair, even without a trailer, I can think of 2 obvious ways that they can get out of that situation.

Not including these alternatives:

David Tennant gurns his way to freedom.
They run away.

Ghost in the Shell, I reckon. The "ghosting" idea is definitely borrowed from there.

So The Doctor can jam his sonic screwdriver into a space suit neural link thinger and patch it into the library database to resurrect Donna. Or something.

The "next week" promo is the worst idea since JNT tried that experimental laughter track in the 80's.

Wasn't it that the communicator had a clone of the speech part of the brain or something with a psychic link that could replicate voiced thoughts in the event of a besuited person being unable to call for help verbally. However, the 'pattern buffer' of the cloned brain part sometimes stores and loops information post death. I think that was it.

But yes, for poignant scene and zombie voice.

Apparently Les Dennis had an affair with Sophie Aldred. It's in his autobiography.

Donna wasn't in the "next week on" trailer. I eneded up watching the show twice and she's definitely not there. Obviously she's alive though.

Here's my guess (spoilered because I'm super awesome and so 1000% right):

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
She's been saved by the library and what not and will go and visit the girl - but at some point of the episode all this fazing in and out will make her go see Rose!

Sitting on a wall(?) with your right leg on top of the wall, and your left leg dangling over. Your right elbow resting on your right leg, with your right arm in turn supporting your head, chin in hand, hand with index finger out, left hand resting on left leg.

Fear my stalking abilities.

(I fail to see how I'm going to fit Les in though.)

For some reason it kept making me think of Craig Charle's memorable keyboard use in this.

The Doctor/Tennant in court was later to give a feeble utterance of "Timeywimey" with a spherical wriggle of his hands when asked if he had anything to say in his defence.

Also - am I the only one to notice that the library was fitted with (WoS favourite) apple keyboards? (the new flat style ones).

For some reason it kept making me think of Craig Charle's memorable keyboard use in this.

Craig noticed, but they looked too flat to me, unless they were sunk into the table. I have a mac keyboard, but it isn't that flat.
