Ever get the feeling that the Beatles second best drummer needs the attention? He looks like the tramp down at the local train station who is demanding why you don't love him as much as Paul McCartney.

Old loon.

Before I saw that article I assumed he was dead, and was happy with that assumption. Now if Paul would just fucking croak it could shape up to be a good week.

Gnomes, why do you need all the Beatles to be dead for you to be happy?

Are you really ('Amiga Action')?

It's a pity the lord saw fit to take Lennon and Harrison and not McCartney and Ringo, who are both insufferable twats. I'm with CG.

Agreed on all counts

Liek I give a fudge what Ringo is up to.

He and Paul McCartney need to go the way of Freddie Mercury, pretty soon

Why do so many of you want Paul McCartney to die?

He's written some lovely songs, had a beautiful relationship with his musically untalented first wife, whose own veggie-food enterprises were increasingly prescient given all the controversy over deforestation due to cattle rearing; he then married again, was exploited and used by the selfish bitch he's hooked up with, but through it all was quiet, composed and dignified.

Okay, so he's not written a decent song in forever, but then neither has e.g. David Bowie or any number of other long-standing musical icons.

'kin hell.

I Like Macca, leave him alone. I also liked the Ringo Starr song from about a decade ago. I think he was on a traffic island singing to people in new york in the video?

I think that Ringo and Paul McCartney's work with The Beatles has earned them enough credit to forgive them little things like not signing autographs, or that frog song thing that McCartney did.

That aside, saying you want them to die is a bizarre thing to say and smacks of being "controversial" purely for controversy's sake. It's a bit childish really.

Famously, George Harrison had a big sign on the front of his house telling people to fuck off and leave him alone. It's not just the 'boring living ones' who shunned the public.

And of course, one of the Beatles was shot by someone who could have been any fan.

I think their reluctance to 'meet and greet' is understandable, myself.

I say BOO-URNS! to all you death-wishers. I've never once wanted them dead, not even when the hundreth tedious obsessive walks through the library doors and starts reeling off the names of the Beatles favourite stamps to an uncaring Music Library Me.

I suggest you all watch A Hard Day's Night and remember how excellent Ringo was in that.

Amused to see the Family Guy video posted there was yet another, "You think that's bad! What about the time..."

In no reality does McCartney == Glitter. In any way, shape, or form whatsoever.

@nervouspete: yes! Or, as I have, just listen to 'Goodnight', the closing track on the white album. I know he didn't write any of it, but damnit, that's a gorgeous song.

I can't help but feel that Ringo would have got away with this if only he hadn't made a video about it. He could have kept quiet and simply put all his mail in the bin.

There would have been no need for this thread then!

I can't really blame him for wanting a rest at 68, but there's no need to throw toys out the pram. He might as well have said "Fuck you, cunts, I've enough money to live on now!" and been done with it.

No doubt there'll be a huge number of 'this is the last item Ringo ever signed' things on eBay.

Hell, if I were Ringo I'd ensure I wrote words to that effect on the last item I signed.

But this certainly throws all his good work in that episode of the Simpsons into the trash. Along with all the things he won't sign! OHO!

Oh, for fuck's sake. Wishing people dead in casual conversation isn't some terrible, gasp-worthy thing, or something done just to be 'controversial'. It's not at all controversial if you haven't spent your life in a plastic bubble sealed inside a particularly dark cave, and people don't literally mean that. It's just a good, fun way to express dislike of something or someone.

plus the Beatles weren't THAT incredible anyway. They were just a bloody band.

Who was it that said the Beatles are dying in inverse order ot talent, so Ringo Starrrrr has nothing to worry about for another couple of aeons?

Pfft. There is an enormous flourishing emu scene. Also a disturbingly large hardware modding scene. I've seen SCs with ethernet NICs and a just about functional TCP/IP stack, for example.

I always think it's bizarre that people judge celebs on single things - "I said hello to X once. He was very polite. What a top bloke". Yeah, cos we all always treat every person we meet with utter respect - christ, even getting a Londoner to acknowledge your existence as you stand out of their way or hold a door is an achievement sometimes, so why should celebs be different. I don't find it tricky to imagine what's brought him to making a tit of himself in this way - day after day for years, people asking, some demanding, signatures, signed photos, can you sign this record, etc.etc.
