I was letting her off lightly with Hull. The other option was an industrial estate in Goole (shudders at the memory).

Frankly, I think Shin owns the B&B thread, it has become her domain and lair, we are all but visitors, wannabes, Shins that never quite made it all the way.

On another forum I go on you can click the postcount number on the forum index and it causes a pop-up that shows you how many people done post. Is there anyway to see anything like that about a thread on BETEO?

Go to members; at the bottom should be an option to list the members in order of certain criteria - postcount is one of them.

I think Pod meant 'per thread', so once Bits and Bobs 4 gets full, you can see exactly who has filled it up the most.

Edit - Also, you could just click on members, and then click on posts to sort by that column, but you knew that, right?

I just given a witness statement, having been threatened with rape, assault, murder and having my house burnt down.

Three hours on from the whole thing and I'm still shaking with anger and fear. I have no idea whether I even ought to be putting this on here, but I've got to let it out somehow.

Oh... God...

Aw! Sorry, I posted all that then figured I didn't really want to bring the BnB4 down on only it's first page! But once again I think I should say, this truly is the most excellent forum on the internet. Probably. I've not done a great deal of research or anything. But based on annecdotal evidence...

Fentiman's Lemonade - it tastes weird and I feel a bit sick. That's not lemonade. That's fizzy water with an aftertaste more ginger than lemon. Bleurgh.

I've been getting a serious itching for some Lego, and wanted to go buy some. So I've been looking around at the Lego City stuff, and: where the fuck is all of it? The range is so *small*. And it's all emergency services, public transport and construction stuff. Is there some political agenda here, working against private ownership of motor vehicles?

And most of the range is big expensive boxes (50 to a 100 quid, ffs). When I used to collect City and Castle Lego as a kid, they had *masses* of smaller boxes of all sorts of things - a zillion different little cars, bikes, trucks, monster trucks, knights, catapults, ballistae, rowing boats and so on and so on. There was a good range of "middle" sized sets, at about 20 to 30 quid, then a few bigger things (like castles, airports and so on) at 50 odd sponds.

What's happened to my beloved Lego? Why have they stripped the ranges down to near enough fuck all?

How would a backlash against their glut of stupid movie tie ins cause them to reduce the lovely range of little vehicles and bits and bobs for Lego City? I think it's their mass of licensed stuff that's *caused* the reduction in the other "traditional" ranges.

CG - awesome.

Why have they reduced their "traditional" ranges (e.g. City and Castle)? These used to have a very big range of smaller packs (your pocket money toys, really), and these seem to have been cut down severely. They also have less products per range in total as well. The City stuff also seems to have a complete absence of anything other than public services. Why, damnit? WHY?

Yeah, that's the other thing that pisses me off - most sets are built using very specific moulded parts that can't be used for much else - reducing the "combine all of your Castle lego into one massive tower" fun that used to be had.

I'm very glad I kept all my Castle Lego, so that the boys can play with it*, but my City stuff all went missing and I wanted to build up another little city of Lego people all joyriding and holding up convenience stores on my desk.

Also - whence went Pirate lego?

*And me, obv.

It's not a difficult question, is it? More tie-ins = more sets sold because the kids always have to have the latest sets. More pre-moulded pieces = more sets sold because you can't make as much with the sets you have.

Nostalgic men at the end of their twenties aren't their primary market.

:this: :this: :this: :this: :this:

Pirate Lego came out when I was about 13 IIRC, that dangerous age where you stupidly believe you're too old for Lego, even though you can never be too old for Lego. Now I'd really like some, but they've stopped making it, the bastards! You'd think with the success of the Pirates Of The Carribean movies in recent years, they'd be falling over themselves to make some cash out of it.

Some of that Lego Pirate stuff looked really decent too... :'(

That doesn't explain the truncated ranges, though. More stuff in a range, more stuff the kids have to buy, surely? It's the same with the Star Wars lego ranges - there are loads of kits there that have been struck off the range in the last few years, leaving a fairly shitty, small range of stuff.

I resemble that implication.

Heh. I think he means "moulded into complicated shapes specific to that kit rather than being moulded into more ubiquitous shapes".

EDIT - @ Zio - Priate Lego goes for vast sums of money on the second hand market, now. 300-400 sponds for a pirate ship, for instance.

If the kids will buy anything as long as it's the latest cool thing, you may as well just make fewer more expensive sets, reducing your manufacturing costs, because you know they'll move onto the next 'in-range' before they run out of sets to buy.

I'm making an effort at writing down cases that I should remember the names of and why they are important in a card index system. Hurrah. And I am probably going to try and get my pushbike sorted this week, and get a haircut. I might also indulge myself in court this afternoon, but I am unsure as something I ate has disagreed strongly with me.
