Yeah that sounds good.

Why don't you pick a track and car then?

I have improved it since last week. I did an R3 race last night around Hockenheim. While the proper R3 cars were all over me on the corners, at least I could now stay on the track. I utterly destroyed them on the big final straight (went from a 2 second gap to 6 seconds). Basically they can out accelerate me to about 100mph just, but once I get to 150mph I'm powering past. The traction control is lit constantly until about 150mph.

It is still a bitch to handle though. But nowhere near as bad as it was even a week ago. Should be fun as I have an A class config for it and also an R3. With the right gearing its good for 240mph although I found that even on the high speed ring it is very easy to crash the car horribly when it is going that speed.

But above all there is even more potential for spectacular crashes.

Hockenheim? As far as I'm aware, that's not in Forza.

Oh also I found some foam that's just right for it and made a little wedge to go behind my brake pedal. It does indeed improve matters a great deal. I can now press the brake pedal down pretty hard but it takes extra pressure before the wheels will lock. Turns out I needed a slightly smaller block for Race Pro but it works just as well.

Ahh, but which Nurburgring, as there are two.

although one of them is DLC, and I imagine I'm the only one who has got it

It seems quite different to the GP track as found in F1:06 (PS3)

It's a damn sight more tricky, for a start.

It isn't much fun in slow cars for sure. It's better in proper fast cards though. The R1 race we had a couple of weeks back was mental.

It's a test of skill and endurance, that's for sure. You can't stop concentrating for a second or you end up in a wall. Very tough, but if you like that kind of challenge then it's excellent.

It isn't the worst but it's not the best either, I think there's probably a reason we only ever race on it once in an evening.

I had a dream about this last night. In it, Dimrill managed to find Grannies necklace in the pits and caise everyoone to shrink.
And Perkies had a gun on his car.

Will be on later but possibly not until towards 10 as only just back from Scumdon to the office and have to look at the footage, back it up, buy tea and then get home. + cook tea and eat tea.

I do wish the train companies would stop the poor people from walking through 1st.

That is all.

Are you serious? In an R1 car, that course is awesome. Its not the best for racing as its so damn hard to overtake cleanly but for time trials its absolutely amazings!

Really enjoyed it last nights racing. Very pleased to beat you all by miles (apart from Ramsea) in the SUPA-ASTRAZ race!

Even did quite well on the Nerdburgring, 4th I think.

More of this sort of thing!

I hope whoever spun out in front of me when I was doing 170 mph on the Nerdburgring after the start also had their car totalled. I was really looking forward to racing my talking car. By the time I could see what was happening it was too late. I tried to avoid the collision but I don't think it would have made a blind bit of difference what car I was in.

Of course if the game had a turbo boost button I could have jumped over the impending disaster.

In retrospect I think damage should have been turned off. On a number of occasions I got shunted at the start (twice causing me to shunt the car in front) wrecking my race as I sustained engine damage. Not much fun having to sit a race out because the car won't steer properly and won't get up to speed.

The Trabant's were fun though.

I tried joining this late last night and had bloody NAT problems again. Why am I suddenly after years of no problems getting NAT problems when joining games of Forza I don't know. Anyway, I was out last night celebrating Carys good news so couldn't join in earlier. You'll all be playing Forza 4 by the time I get to join :(

I actually wouldn't mind doing some races with collisions off altogether, with the best will in the world passing someone safely in Forza is a tricky proposition.

I didn't know you could turn collisions off!

In the 510s at Silverstone it's all part of the fun to be knocking the door handles off, but anything A and above everyone needs to back off and treat a collision as unacceptable because you can completely total someone with no consequence to yourself if you drive the same way.

I got punted a couple of times on first corners too, but I think I might have been the culprit in the Nerding race, sorry chinny!

Sorry, I meant collision damage. I could have recovered from that smash but the engine was totalled. The problem with damage on is that at the inevitable pile up at the first corner, if you get damaged it can be game over.

One of the problems is lag. At one stage I crashed into MYP because one second he was on one side of the track with me trying to cut through the inside, he then jumped to being in front of me going though the corner. I'm fairly convinced many of the first corner smashes were caused by lag.

Obviously what we need is someone to visit the house of those who have crashed and break their legs with a hammer.

Simulate the effects of real crashes and all.

We tried a staggered start a few weeks back and it worked really well...still on Nerlingring (and Suzuka etc), its still nigh on impossible to overtake someone cleanly...best bet is just to sit on their ass until they make a mistake.

Ghost cars for R3 onwards (depending on circuit) would probably work quite well. Sunset Penisula is a great track as no matter what car youre in, you will usually always find an easy place to overtake.

Also Chinny, no point in complaining about being shunted, you did it to me at least twice last night (Nerdyring and Maple Valley long)...in most cases, its just (albeit unfortunately) a part of the game.

I don't think he was seriously complaining about being shunted, only about the resulting damage. And I agree, car damage is a bit nerdy. Usually the other effects of a collision are enough to make gentleman drivers such as ourselves try to avoid collisions anyway. :hat:

I cannot have shunted you at the Nerdburgring unless it was on the rebound from hitting Kalmar. I was out of the race in 20 seconds. Basically everyone pulled away from me and as I got up to 150 I started powering past. I overtook someone by going to the very edge of the track, got past and then Kalmar spun out ahead and I slammed straight into his side (I had a split second to decide if I tried to steer around or hope he'd spin out of the way and carry on straight ahead).

The collision was pretty violent but (a) there was nothing I could do as Kalmar spun straight into my path and (b) the collision was so violent I was thrown down the road and ended up in the barrier after spinning and flying around.

On Maple Valley, was that the one that occurred at the start? If so I was shunted into you myself. Not sure it was that track but it certainly happened on one track.

Not complaining (well other than the Nerdburgrung where I got a pretty raw deal) but racing with damage on isn't much fun when collisions are bound to happen. As I demonstrated, game lag means I literally saw MYP magically jump from the racing line line to the other side of the track.

In past weeks most people have managed to recover from shunts. This week the fun was spoiled by the inevitable shunts ending up as being fatal. Are we playing a computer game for fun or some nerdy car simulation? I remember playing F1GP with damage on and its fun but when peoples reaction times are compromised by lag and you are racing for fun, it seems mean to have people excluded just because the game deems their engine to be damaged.
