I watched the first episode of Boba Fett. BOR-ING.

And the fight scenes were terrible.

And Boba gets surrounded by shield guys and doesn’t just fly away? Fuck was that about.

Nicole Richie on Great News (Netflix) is superbly funny. As is the rest of the cast in the episodes I have seen so far. Tina Fey exec produces it, if you don't trust my judgement and need a nudge.

Does it matter if one never bothered watching the final season of Dexter?

It does not. I did watch the final season but don’t remember any of the seasons of Dexter AT ALL, but am still enjoying the new stuff. There’s enough explanation of his past that you can watch it if you’ve not seen any of his previous ‘work’.

smashing, thank you. I did enjoy the show when it was good. Will be a good alternative to the Stay Close nonsense we're currently sitting through on Netflix (which is not to say it's unenjoyable, but it is very much nonsense).

I tried Parks and Recreation but it really didn't grab me at all. After a few episodes we gave up on it.

The Good Place (which we have only just started) is more entertaining.

That last season was SO SHIT though, it felt like it tarnished a lot of what came before (and frankly it had been on a bit of a decline for some time). Lady T suggested watching all of the Dexter series again before we do the new one, the response was a simple 'nope'

Parks & Rec is one of those shows that benefits from the first season being skipped entirely. 2-4 are solid gold. 5 is still good, but beginning to wane in my opinion.

We watched the first episode last night and switched off halfway through. Definitely didn't give it a fair crack of the whip, but I felt like I was watching a 21st century version of Shoot Me with Brooke Shields and David Spade, which was shit. May try again, as definitely unfair to damn a show by its pilot.

I think I'm kind of encouraged by that. I stopped, for no reason other than that there's so much of it, in series 3, but I'll start picking off some episodes again. It's such a good love story, at least for the first few series (I accidentally started with the first two episodes of the last one, which was confusing, and spoilery).

Still warm and lovely. The laughs have got bigger, I think.

We downloaded the Apple TV app and it wanted to give us a free episode before (presumably) getting us to subscribe.

I take it Ted Lasso is only available through nefarious means currently?

I'd say it's money well spent to subscribe to Apple TV for a month or two and rinse all their content before cancelling.

Ted Lasso is the best feel-good TV ever.
For All Mankind is a great alternate history version of the Space Race and there's a good selection of other stuff to try.
We're doing Schmigadoon (Weird musical) and Physical (80s aerobics drama) at the moment.

We have a five month trial of Apple TV (yay!) and are watching Ted Lasso. It’s great. The dip down in tone at the end of each episode ending on that poignant note hits just right. I can’t stand some of the characters, but that’s why they’re there.

Also watching all of Fraggle Rock, including the best episode (19). They really DON’T make kids TV like that. They deal with some BIG subjects. It’s sincerely beautiful.

The new episodes are released in a few days. I have no idea if they could match the original episodes for poignancy, but I hope it’s still good. Will check out the alternative space race program also.

Have you seen Space Force (Netflix)? Everyone should watch that. We’ve watched it twice. Love it, love it, love it.

Yeah, I just had a look at the reddit threads, and there are essentially three books after the serieses. Speculation that that's it, that maybe they'll do a Firefly-style film or two, but really you probably have to head for books 7-9 at this point.

Could equally have been the xmas episode.

I adored the first series but haven't got on so well with the second. I think the longer episodes are the culprit - I much prefer the show in 28 minute doses.

Also, as unlikely as the plot of the first series was, this series has lacked a dramatic device of any significance to propel things.

Also, not enough Ted, in spite of 30% longer episodes.

Still need to finish S2 though, perhaps it redeems itself.

TV is like dinner at our house (and I suspect at many others' too)

Main course: something substantial, typically a one-hour drama
Pudding: a 30-minute bit of light-relief.
Bed: bouncy thing cunningly stored in our bedroom.

Ted Lasso used to do that, but as he slipped into longer run-times, it meant it would be too late by the time it finished, if we had Ted for pud.

Which is also why we never made it into S2 of the Good Place, that fricking feature-length opener.
