I've just made it through the first episode of the reboot of "Lost in Space"...I am supposed to want them all to die horribly aren't I?

Because I do...don't think I'll bother with the rest.

I've got this downloaded as I enjoyed the utter batshittery* of the Grant Morrison comic it's based on but I haven't got round to watching it yet.

Finished episode 2 last night and am really enjoying it...dark, gritty, violent...with just the right amount of flying unicorn action.

I hadn't even watched anything about it but fucking hell, the trailer is even more bonkers that I was expecting:

ETA: also, a second series has been confirmed.

I watched Episode 1 last night and was wavering with it a bit, but the sheer insanity and verve of it kept me watching.

The main guy seems really good but the character he's playing is a bit of a turn-off for me, I appreciate he's probably not supposed to be 'likeable' in a Deadpool sort of way but you've got to be able to get behind the protagonist.

I'll move onto Episode 2 tonight, although then again my mum's over later today and it might not be her cup of tea. Maybe after she's gone to bed.

I'm watching The Orville. Went in expecting fart jokes, got fart jokes but also some mildly deep writing and big name cameos. Pretty impressed so far, after 6 episodes.

The Orville is brilliant. As you say, the expectation is Family Guy in Space; but the characters are genuinely well written. The central relationship of Ed and Kelly is incredibly compelling.

I stopped watching Young Sheldon for a while, not for any reason, I just forgot about. But then I caught back up on E4 and it remains as charming and lovely as I initially thought it was. 11 episodes and, beyond all expectations, it’s entirely watchable.

Then I watched some Big Bang Theory and wanted to skull fuck every last one the cast. Not a single one of them is trying, the writers must be sleepwalking through the script process and the audience flabbergasts me with their horrendously misplaced, mirth. What a load of utter dogshit that programme has become.

Watched Happy! And thought it was great, the violence was over-the-top graphic novel violence so never had enough realism to be full-on torture porn, which is something I absolutely cannot stand to watch.

Told all my friends to watch it, told them it was violent but funny and surreal so the violence was not such a big deal and realised far too late (when they text me asking why I didn't warn them) that I probably should've given a couple of the mums some notice about a certain scene.

There is a remake of Monkey Magic "The New Legends of Monkey"

30-minute episodes and 10 of them on Netflix.

It had a slightly different take on the story, in this one Monkey is imprisoned in a mountain by Demons which are ruling the land 500 years later. In the original, I remember Budda putting him there for being a general pain in heavens arse :)

If you liked Monkey before you will like this.

Yeah, I had to tune out and away at that scene (if it’s the one I’m assuming you mean
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
the microwave?
) but really enjoying it elsewise, in exactly the same way you describe.

That is indeed the scene.

The unicorn wasn't as annoying as I thought it might be, I think I was expecting something along the lines of Ted, so thank God that didn't happen. The whole thing was, in my opinion, very well balanced. I snorted every time I saw Sax run, in his weird wide-gaited way.

Don't watch it if you have an issue with unrealistic portrayals of the physical abilities and resilience of middle-aged men, or a dislike of unreasonably long scarves.

Post subject:  Re: General Purpose US TV thread

I haven’t seen Ted, but thought the unicorn was a nice balance of witty and cute. My dislike of long scarves was not piqued. I don’t actually have a dislike of them, but nobody wants an Isadora Duncan moment, the thoughtbof which does freak me out occasionally.

We’ve just finished the final episode. One bit made me cry. Bananas out of ten.

They have a rabid fanbase who don't understand the premise of the show. Only good and nice people like B99 and there's not enough, it seems.

Also it's on Fox so what do you expect from shysters like them.

It's still funnier than the best episodes of Two Broke Girls, for example. ;)
