Sure. The data still has to travel over (mostly) physical wires. Something like streaming video which is mostly one-way transfer of data would be less noticeably affected than something interactive like gaming, but the latency still has an impact.

Well that's just weird then as online gaming is largely fine, as is Netflix or whatever, but plex is just unusable

Two of those things will be coming from world-wide CDNs with nodes near Singapore. They don’t have to cross the planet. The other one is someone’s broadband in Bedford.

We don't have a Canadian TV thread so this will do. Letterkenny is a sitcom set in the titular town which is populated with idiots and weirdos. The dialogue is the star, being so dense and quickfire that it's possible to miss half the jokes on first watching. Also: the lead female character is stupidly cute, especially from the second season onwards.

These two short clips are pretty representative.

Lol, apologies. I obviously didn't notice your post at the time and I assumed it was so obscure that no one else would ever have posted about it so I didn't bothered doing a search; which I'm usually very good about.

Anyway, there you go: a recommendation from Bamba and Hearthly surely can't be ignored?

That's like Barry Norman and Roger Ebert really going for something, except a Norman+Ebert combo who like videogames as well, which gives their opinions extra street cred with the cool kids.

Billions - I hated pretty much every character except for the wealthy lady AUSA but then JOEL FROM NORTHERN EXPOSURE!

The US Attorney's wife is lovely. And Billions is a great show despite, as you say, the majority of the characters being complete arseholes.

The Sinner on Netflix has managed to drag us in pretty well. It's an interesting premise, an ordinary lady unexpectedly goes berserk during a family trip to the beach and stabs some apparently random man to death. Nobody has any idea why but policeman Bill Pullman wants to find out. After a couple of episodes we were both saying that it was really good but also that it could easily go wrong if it went off in too stupid of a direction. Anyway watched a couple more last night and it's all coming together nicely.

Anyone watching the new season of Vikings?

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
I was really enjoying Bjorn and Halfdane adventures in the desert. I don't care about Kattegat anymore. Lagertha is still one of the hottest things on tv but i don't care about her story anymore. So the fact that everyone returned to kattegat for the showdown is a bit disappointing.

And i was so happy to see a portuguese actor on Vikings! And so disappointed to see him get eaten, literally, in the next episode :(

I mean, I think it's Mr Robert*, but I have no recollection of this happening in it.

Disagree somewhat. The adventure in the desert was pretty pointless I thought and didn't really do anything to advance the story. It looked pretty though. I'd rather see more about Floki and his friends in Iceland.

The desert parts ended up being pointless, but in the beginning it was the thing that I was most eager to see. I was hoping they would end up in Constantinople. Besides they should haven't killed portuguese guy. And that Kassia woman was marvellously cast. Her face is striking and exquisite, almost like something from a byzantine mosaic

But i agree the parts in Iceland are great. I was expecting floki to die there in "Asgard" but obviously i don't know norse history that well, because apparently some guy named Floki discovered Iceland

I think we’ve got to about episode four-ish (just watched the one with the Red Circles) and I don’t think we’re going to carry on with it. It’s really dragging its feet compared to the first series, the characters are somehow completely one dimensional and yet still doing things that completely hard with the characters as established, and nothing much is happening. The most exciting thing was me thinking ‘oh yeah, that’s Luke Perry’ only in episode four. I knew from last season, but he looks so different now that I re-forgot.

Watched the first episode of The Marvellous Mrs Maisel (Amazon Prime). It’s brilliant and allegedly heavily influenced by the early life of Joan Rivers.

Couple of recent Netflix documentary series watches from me.

'ROTTEN' which focuses on one food per episode, and the problems with production/forgery/sourcing etc, so there's a chicken episode and a peanut allergy episode and a honey/bees episode and so on. TBH it's a bit uneven and a couple of the episodes are a bit too 'human interest' but overall it's a solid and interesting documentary.

'DIRTY MONEY' focuses on shitheels in the world of corporate culture/finance/banking/etc, again one per episode. So there's a VW Emissions episode, a payday loan episode, a pharmaceutical gouging episode and so on. This is really good and I'd very much recommend it. The VW Emissions chicanery is gob-smacking. Clearly corporate corruption right the way to the top.

I like documentaries more than pretend things these days I think.
