Just started Series 1, two episodes in. Quite good, this.

Series 2 is so far a bit more 'in your face', bam, stuff's happening. Probably because they only have 7 eps to work with.

I must get round to watching this - watched series 1 last year and was most upset that it got cancelled mid series 2. But that's the States for you. Having watched Firefly again recently, it simply beggars belief they cancelled it - it had everything going for it except an audience it would appear.

Did Jericho get cancelled mid S2? The way S2 has been paced so far suggests that it was cancelled at the end of S1, but they gave them enough money to do 7eps in S2 so it didn't leave quite so much up in the air.

Great shows getting crap ratings in the US baffles me almost as much as great food not selling well here.

I think the second series was made with the sword of damocles over it's head - the studio effectively canned the show at the end of season one to be met with a huge internet campaign from viewers which included a ton (literally) of peanuts being sent to the head of the TV company. They relented on a "let's see" basis but I don't think there was much hope. I haven't watched any of SII.

Torrents primed. Oh, hang, I might have downloaded a few eps already. I'll go check.

Well, as the good Doctor is wont to say, "There's too much quality TV to watch everything that comes out when it comes out" or something similar.

On a related note, now that the yarrmehearties site has gone legit where's good to go for this kind of thing?

I've found a few episodes of season one of 30 Rock that hadn't seen, so I'm celebrating by watching it all in order. Bloody hell, it's good. Either this or Arrested Development has to be the best American sitcom of the last 10 years.

I never 'got' 30 Rock. Watched the first eight or so, and just didn't find the funny.

Yes, that's one explanation. I like shit TV shows that no-one else likes.

Quote:
30 Rock is an American situation comedy. It has won and been nominated for a variety of different awards, including 10 Emmy Award nominations for its first season alone,[1][2] and a further 17 Emmy Award nominations in its second season.[3] For each of its first two seasons, the show won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.[1]... As of September 2009, 30 Rock has been nominated for 79 different awards, and won 29 awards.

And hey look, here's another show I like that you don't that everyone else doesn't like too.

Idiot.

I don't understand why, when the whole town is relying on a pitiful stock of fuel to power their generators, everyone is a) driving around in their cars like nothing's happened, and b) has their lights on in the middle of the day, as well as every other electronic device. All of the indoor scenes so far are like any other drama — you hardly know there's been some sort of nuclear fallout.

I'm hoping later on they run out of fuel and think "Shit. We fucked up."

Bear in mind that at that point, everyone's pretty much still expecting FEMA to turn up 'any minute now'.

I guess they're all still getting used to the idea of it all, aye, trying to hold on to any last semblance of normality.

It's quite good so far, but I hope it gets better. The scripting so far reminds me a bit of Prison Break, which isn't a particularly good thing.

Has anyone heard anything about Flash Forward? It's getting advertised on Five right now, seems to be about millions of people blacking out at the same time and it's made by the team behind Lost I think? Also has a hot blonde woman in it, I can't remember what I've seen her in before though...

Ah, it appears she is the actress who played Penny in Lost. I hadn't realised I fancied her. I really should watch the rest of Lost, I think I have three or four episodes on my Sky+.

Just finished season 1, and it's most excellent. Shame there are only seven episodes of season 2, the basts.

further investigation also reveals that this story is based on a book and that the American TV series has totally changed the story. I think I will try and watch the series and then read the book. I don't want to read the book then be disgusted by the series. Apparently, the book centres around two scientists with CERN and the series has that changed to FBI agents in LA. *sigh*
Surely a sci-fi TV series centred around CERN is TV gold? Why change?

CERN? That sounds like some kinda goddam frog thing to me. Set it in Hollywood instead. Oh, and lose the science, SNORE! Make it Christian paranormal investigations out of a faith school. Or the feds. What, we did that? Well do it again!

The best thing about it is that the super secretive FBI contact is a black guy. Like X Files. And Fringe. And wasn't there a super secretive contact black guy in Lost as well?

Stick it out. It starts slow (although I still liked that bit), then goes bonkers around episode 7.

Yes, and this role is almost always played by Lance "Don't call me Lt Daniels" Reddick.

I loved the start, especially the kidnap episode. Echo in business gear helped though. Hmm... maybe that's why MrsPaz is not convinced.

Just about to finish the last couple of episodes of Jericho's final season. I'm not convinced ending it early was a bad thing, if only for the way it's forcing them to make things happen instead of slow-boiling it and dragging the "What the fuck is going on?" out for years like the tedium that is Lost and its ilk.

If you've even remotely seen Jericho at all:

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!

One (non-spoilery) annoyance with the ending of Jericho - the DVD has two different endings, only they differ in about two scenes that make very little difference to anything, and you have to watch the whole episode through again. I think they made it in case of a last-minute recomissioning of the series.

What the Holy fuck?

I've just watched the first 6 minutes of Fringe Season 2 Episode 1, (the bit before the credits role) and I just want to say, WTHF? Now to watch the rest.

So, yes. Without A Trace is worth picking up on DVD. There are very few story arcs, so if you have 40 minutes to spare you can watch a story about a missing person without having to worry about who feels what way about whom.
It's also quite realistic in the fact that if a member of the team shoots somebody (which is very rare), it can have real implications. Jack pulled the trigger to save his colleagues life and I actually winced. Shooting people is bad, mmmkay?
I highly recommend the episodes Gung Ho, Doppelganger, and Two Families, all from Season 2.

I'm intrigued by Flash Forward but the association with Lost in the trailers is making me wary and suspicious that the length of the story will be dependent on the ratings.
