It's about as close to a 'non-main-plot' episode as lost can get.

Lost has gone downhill. I'm not sure I have the mental fortitude to ensure another two fucking seasons of getting to the point of it all. Maybe I'll just wait until its finished and read a plot summary from wikipedia.

I still watch smallville. I don't know WHY I do, because it's shit. It's always shit. It's always been shit. However It's now season 8 and I suppose at this point I might as well see what fucking happens before they cancel it.

Plus Lois is fucking hot, with killer norks.

lol, yes.

Too bad she's not filthy enough to have done any proper nude films or whatnot, although she came fairly close (fnarr) in Butterfly Effect 2.

It was the only reason I downloaded the film, although first I downloaded the torrent that just showed the scene where she gets fairly nude and boinks a guy.

The film itself is average, like the original but with less explanation. Still, giant norks.

Thank fuck they got rid of Lana though. I never thought she was hot, had non-existant tits, and was a thoroughly annoying, stupid character. Chloe though, why, I'd certainly give her a good seeing to.

Must stop talking about tits, it's all I've done this week.

Lost crawled up it's own arse and died a while back for me.

Prison break has crawled up its own arse and vomited itself out and then a tramp sharted on it.

Heroes is still watchable (Hi Hayden!) but yes, it has wobbled lately.

Dexter is the treat of the week for me, and it remains fucking, fucking awesome. This week's ep was particularly potent and moving. The whole thing is just really, really well done. I hope it never goes shit.

I still like Prison Break though, although I hope they end it after this season. They can't squeeze much more plot out of it anymore, and to try to do so would end in terrible failure.

Chloe looks too much like my sister for me to have thoughts like that. Lana was a bubble headed joy sink with a big fake smile. Good fucking riddance. I quite liked the teleporting girl from way back, who made a more recent reapperance. She was foxy and feisty. A good combo.

The higher your post-count gets, the more I like you.

Yes, she was hot as shit, and filthy. Writhing around on top of Clark in skimpy pants and bra? She was well up for it, and all he could fucking well do was look angsty and unsure. Jesus.

Then of course, she gets tragically killed off, and Clark is upset for the remaining 4 minutes of the episode. Then the next ep, he's as right as rain, never shows any grief about his recently murdered girlfriend, and goes back to pining after the bubble-head. Fucking hell.

Many times this. Lost is the only show I can think of that jumped the shark and then jumped back. Clearly, deciding where and when and how it will end was exactly what the show needed.

Yeah, same here. S3 clicked with me after a couple of episodes. Now I just pick my feet up, disengage my brain, and let it sweep me along. It's failing to deliver on the promise it showed in S1 but it's still more than entertaining enough to justify 45 minutes a week from me.

heroes.... hmm.... I was downloading them to see them as soon as possible, but since the beeb is only a week or so behind now I figured I'd save the bandwidth and just watch on bbc3. Time will tell.

I'm still regularly downloading Smallville (as CG and I have discussed), House (Loved it start to present day, no other show can be so formulaic to a tee and still be fun), My Name is Earl (quality is dropping off alarmingly and I've just found out that Jason Lee is a Scientologist!) and Chuck (me and the missus agree, one of the best shows around at the mo. Fun for geeks and spouses of geeks alike)

If you thought S4 was better than usual then consider the fact that they had to 'squeeze' the whole season's plot in to half as many episodes as they otherwise would have.
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Could you have imagined that? Another 10-12 episodes where they torturously drag out how they escaped from the island? Imagine how little would have needed to happen, and how much more annoying backstory they'd have had to put in to pad it out.

I predict S5 will be more back/forward story, with the finale of S5 being them finally getting back to the island. A whole season of them working out how to get back there. Then S6 will be all 'back on the island' and dragged out to a final and probably unsatisfying conclusion.

I hope I'm wrong, honest.

No they didn't. They did a deal with the network towards the end of S3 that there would be three more seasons, each 16 episodes long[1]. They plotted the end of the show out then (as they would have had to have done of course because of the

flash forwards
). They would have taken the length of the season into account when writing it, so why would anything be squeezed?

CG's second paragraph spoilered for sensitive eyes:

I've read this is what happens. S5 is about why they have to go back, and how they get there. S6 will be about what happens when they get back. Why is that a bad thing? You criticised S4 for being "squeezed" in, then S5 for being drawn out to "a whole season of them working out how to get back"?

[1] Although due the writer's strike S4 ended up being 14 episodes, with S5 and S6 extended to 17 episodes each.

Also CAN WE HAVE SPOILER TAGS PLEASE PEOPLE. Not everyone has watched this.

Well, nerd-king-who-researches-everything, I still think it's painfully drawn out nonsense at this point, trading on complete and persistant mystery with the promise of eventually explaining it all in some understandable way.

I think it's all going to end in cheap dissapointment. I was its biggest advocate for s1 and 2, but even I've had to accept that if I watch it from here on out, it'll be purely out of vague, unethusiastic curiosity.

I understand what you mean, and I felt pretty much the same during S3 - but that was why I felt S4 was such an incredible change of pace.

Talking to a detective friend of mine on Friday about Dexter, he replies with; "You can't watch that, it'd be like me going home and watching The Bill!" Bah!

American Dad has a habit of having two or three really good episodes, and then one utterly genuine "holy fuck, that was brilliant" episode. This week's was one of the latter. At one point I genuinely did choke on my drink at one unexpectedly hilarious line, and had to spit it back out into the glass.

Postscript to the above statement: Don't invite me to your house if you're serving drinks in front of polite company and an episode of American Dad I haven't seen before is going to be broadcast.

Also, while I haven't yet seen the latest ep of Dexter*, I agree wholeheartedly with Comical. The writer/s behind Dexter (and yes, I do know it's based on a book) is/are masterful at always taking you away from the direction you're anticipating, but then, just when you think they're wise to their wily ways, they'll let you slip an easy mental shot past the goalie, just so that you keep trying to second guess them. In many series, you can quite easily guess what's going to happen, and it'll all about what the ride to that point entails ("I see J Bauer has foiled the terrorists at 54 minutes past the hour again. *Chuckle* Why, I only hope he doesn't stumble into an even bigger... a-ha"), with Dexter, you've no idea where you're being taken. Splendid.

(* And while I'd like to be watching it now, I'm slowly rebuilding my entire Windows Media Player library to try and get around the infuriating Xbox 360 Media Sharing bug of not using the painstakingly accurate 'episode number plus title' filename I've amended all my ("Legally purchased on iTunes" - Ed) video files to, but keeping the useless original ("Perfectly legal DRM-encoded video download" - Ed) filenames.)

Talking to a detective friend of mine on Friday about Dexter, he replies with; "You can't watch that, it'd be like me going home and watching The Bill!" Bah!
Uhh, but, Dexter is a serial killer...

I really must get round to watching series 2 and 3 of Dexter.

I very much enjoyed Series 1, but have since read the first thre books, and whilst Series 1 is pretty much an expanded version of Book 1, I believe that Series 2 and 3 have little/no resemblence to the other books. Not that this will make them bad. I don't even know why I'm saying it, really.

been enjoying the season 1 of sopranos. I know, 10 years too late, but still worthwhile. Great stuff. Still needs some to reach Six Feet Under and Rome levels of awesomeness
