DAMN YOU ALL PLAYING FUN GAMES WITHOUT ME!

I am officially going to by myself a 360 Elite. How do I go about getting the files off my current XBox drive and onto the big new one?

You need a transfer cable, which comes with the 120GB drive, but not with the Elite.

I have got one... somewhere... which if I manage to find I could pop in the post on Monday if you like.

If you could, that would be awesome.

I'll have a look over the weekend. I think I know where it might be.

Brilliant. Let me know (a) how much you want for it, or (b) how much the postage is if you want me to send it back when I'm done.

If I find it just send it back when you're done, don't worry about anything else.

Found!

And the instruction book, too.

I have a transfer cable that I'm quite happy to give to anyone free if they want it. BUT! The disc that comes with it will only work in American 360's, thus rendering it a bit shite.

Transfer disc!

Shit!

Haven't found that yet.

And here's me thinking I could just plug it into a PC or something.

Dr. A - did that video card arrive?

The cable worked well, cheers.
Hopefully you should have it back by the time you read this, along with some sweets.

This thread has made me feel quite happy :)

Now, can anyone lend me some socks as I can't find any.

I will send them back some time next week.

Yes, thank you!

I've been out of the office for a week, but found the package when I got back in this morning.

Glad it worked.

Just curious, but does said cable transfer across the console registry data that is so vital for the enjoyment of one's XBLA titles?

Author:  Dudley [ Wed Apr 23, 2008 20:51 ]
Post subject:  Re: Transfering XBox 360 HDD Files

No because it's still a different console. It's not "registry data", it's the consoles unique hardware id.

If it somehow transferred the console part of the registration it'd be piracy heaven.

I need to transfer data to an elite. I can send off for one if nobody has a spare cable but what I really need to know is:

If I plug in my 20gb drive for now and use the xbox live content license transfer thinger, will that lead to any trouble ahead when I plug the proper 120gb drive back in?

Still haven't got around to getting an HD for my 360 - does anyone have an old 20GB one they're not using?

The content is licensed to the console and the profile, it doesn't care which HDD so no.
