Well my campaign such as it is, is pretty simple.

I've modded places a lot bigger than this.
I'm here all the bloody time.
I think we'd all agree I've got no problem making myself a little unpopular if I have to.

This place doesn't need a lot of changes, Grim...'s right about a limited amount of copyrighted stuff, I'd like to get rid of the subforums that are all but empty because no-one sees the threads (and there's bugger all of them) and I need better access to beat gaywood till the front page happens.

Shit, I haven't thought this through. 90% of the visible progress over there wasn't even me, it was Jasmine and Devilman (although I did spend a thankless 10 hours or so copy/pasting articles over and fixing up the presentation). Drifting off topic, we need the accounts syncing stuff to work so we can nominate sub-eds from here to distribute the uploading-content task.

I definitely don't want to be a moderator. I'm waaaaaaaaaay to lazy for that shit. I'd also be a malignant moderator, kicking people out for whimsical reasons.

If you vote for me in I'll do the basic expectation of any moderator. Clip spam, fix broken tags, general mundane maintenance. I don't think 'policies' beyond a few basic rules need anything more than a quick chat between mods ot reach a consensus. Errr, and that's pretty much it.

No really, this is the sum total of my pitch.

It felt like 10 days but was very dull; I'm estimating based on that. It probably was more like five hours spent with the laptop infront of the telly whilst also chatting on IM etc. Not exactly flat out.

However if you add in the time I spent drawing up the site structure, familiarising myself with Joomla, unsuccessfully looking for themes, and sorting out all the category hierarchies and it probably wasn't far off ten hours.

I did about a third of the reviews forum I think, maybe a bit more.

I wouldn't mind if the current moderators were all in charge again, but I've put myself forward anyway. I've moderated many forums before on Jolt.co.uk, as well as being a public server admin on their CS servers for a good few years. And I'm here all of the time. Although, I don't really post that much.

Hullo.

If you vote for me, I will pretty much enforce whatever Grim... wants, with a writ here and a strongly worded letter there. I will also provide free legal advice to forum members*, and ice cream.

Basically - vote Mr Chris for a more attractive and articulate Sarah Palin to Grim...'s warhero

Ps Craster kills kittens for fun. And hates you all.

*legal advice may not be based upon up to date English law, or indeed anything other than whatever whimsy is in my head at the time. But it will be convincing, and will scare your enemies into submission, which is the main thing.

It was whether to have a link to the phpbb database or not that rather stopped me in my tracks as I didn't want to put too much work into it if it had to be undone at some point anyway. There might not be a need to link the databases at all - if mods want to do content uploading, accounts can be easily enough created in the Joomla backend.

That said, if it did authenticate against the users on here, it'd be useful for stuff like the puArcade add-on as it supports thousands of games and has high score support. (I use it on my own site but I've only put a handful of the games on so far as there's a lot of drivel to wade through).

However, if it's just a case of plonking the rest of the content across, I can do that pretty quickly. I think format sub-categories for the Reviews would come in handy though.

My preference is for every account on the forum to be able to submit content into Joomla, then for it to have to go through a subed approval process (basically just to stop spam, clean up any broken HTML, etc). Otherwise there will always be a reliance on manual crapwork where some mod has to copy the stuff from forum to site.

I'm quite glad we've not copied the Oxford Union's notorious 'Rule 33', which more or less bans all forms of campaigning.

How much pre-ballot intimidation will there be?

Looks like this should do the trick as I think the version of Joomla installed is 1.0 rather than 1.5.

I am campaigning largely on a "I want to read the mod forum" ticket.

And I will be disappointed if TheAlbinoKid does not campaign on his "De-Mod Myoptika" platform.

The mod forum is a massive disappointment.

I would like to carry on as a mod because the last six months have, in my view, been pretty decent, and I'd like the next six to be the same.

Any inference that habitual badger touching or kitten killing has any effect on my function as a moderator is a typical attempt by my rivals to take this campaign down to a base level as it is the only level on which they can function.

Any sane person would view any decentness on the board over the last 6 months as being in spite of rather than due to your moderatrixing.

Vote Grim and Chris!

And therefore presumably it would only be sensible to elect people you perceive to touch badgers already, thus giving them a head start in the job.

I think when an issue has run its course, the thread should be moved out into general discussion so we can get a glimpse of how moderator discussions are handled.

No problem. My last communication jobs were devising the TV advert for the GX4000, the CD32 marketing and the 1997 Tory election campaign. All of these were a huge success (subs please check).

I mostly wanted to post in this thread to tell Dimrill not to eat the raisins.

Two things you need to know before voting Grim...:
I'm going to try and get rid of the "no linking to torrents and pirated stuff" rule
I will still be a forum admin, so don't vote for me just because of my skills using the software - if anything goes wrong I'll still be able to fix it, mod or not.

I thought people weren't linking to anything untoward because they didn't want to get you, the site owner, in trouble. This is news to me.

I'm not big up on pirating stuff, but you got my vote on this.

(Oh and I'm not standing as if anything I should spend less time here.)

It's the dullest sub-forum there is. That's including the old Guides one we had.
