Ingrates had another "Outside Introduction Day" and spent it in the hutch then smashed through all the food like they had been deprived of it all day despite having the run of the garden. Ratty is getting larger. |

Had to say goodbye to Peggy. She was my constant companion for the last 11 years and I'm going to miss her terribly. She got me through more than one bad time, just by alwatys being there. She loved snoozing in front of the fire, peas and licking people's toes. She hated seagulls, vacuum cleaners and mobile phones on "vibrate" mode. Kids would come up to her and hug her and old men in pubs would tell me stories about their Jack Russels from their youth when they saw her. She never asked for anything other than to be in the middle of what ever was going on and would happily fall asleep in the lap of complete strangers if they'd let her. So long, friend. |

I'm sat outside the vet with the last of our original 3 chickens, Daub. Like Thatch a couple of months back it seems a 7th winter moulting was just too much for her. The paranoid part of me wonders what we've done or not done that all 3, different varieties, have gone within the year. Left to right, Wattle, Thatch, Daub. Oddly, the order they stood day 1 is the order they left. |

When we took Noodle in for a health check, both the vet who gave her a physical examination and the two receptionists kept referring to her as a ‘he’. After a while I thought I’d better just make sure and said ‘can I just check… she is a girl puppy, right? I just want to double check as everyone here keeps referring to her as a male pup’. The receptionist said ’Oh, it’s just because she has that kind of boy look about her. You know what I mean. She just looks kind of ______? (Gestures vaguely) She hasn’t got a pretty face. Not yet anyway. She might get a pretty face later’. I can’t believe they dead-ass said I had an ugly pup. |

I spent a long time brushing our two lazy old doggies (they are both around 14 years old) this weekend. I'm always amazed at the amount of fur that comes out from the smaller dog. They seemed to really enjoy it, and I found it therapeutic too. Plus now they look all smart again and I think they feel better too. |

I think the appropriate response there Mimi is "dude can you even vet?!" Nutmeg still sheds a full dog's worth of fur every day. It's unbelievable, just ask our robot hoover. After 4 years we did her first at-home wash in the bath the other day, she tried really hard - as did we, it's been groomer or nothing until now. She's probably not going to be as keen to show off how she's figured out stairs from now on. The shampoo has left her fur feeling really odd - as if it's going to leave your fingers realty oily, but then they're dry. Bizarre. |

Honestly, it was funny. I am sure that there are many pet owners that would have been upset, but I was just standing there watching this woman dig deeper and deeper into why she thought our puppy was ugly and seemingly thought that everyone was lie did, too.

Noodle finally completes her post-vaccine quarantine later this week so we can go for actual walkies! I’ve also booked her first trip to the groomers as she is all hair and floof. Ange and her hubby came over this weekend just past and brought Noodle a pot noodle dog toy, full of string noodles that you can hide the treats in. It is, of course, most excellent. |

First puppy groom today! Supernoods now has her toes beans all freed from floofs and her butt trimmed, and her face is less obscured. The dog groomers were so nice. On a separate note, I contacted the breeder today and asked how much her parents weighed as an estimation of how big she might get, as cobberdogs have several size designations and her parents were both small. Mum is 7kg. Noodle is 15 weeks old and 6.2kg  I think our girl is going to be a giant.
