Been having most of the ground floor of the house redecorated along with new lights and flooring.

I'm lucky that I can store all of the furniture in the conservatory whilst the work goes on,

My Cat is so moody though, firstly she is pissed off that her favorite sleeping chair in the living room has gone, then she has taken a total dislike to the guy doing all the work, who loves animals. She has more time for my son who chases her all day trying to pull her tail and worse.

She won't come in the house and when I see her in the garden she turns her back on me and swishes her tail.

Due to all the work my wife and son are staying with her mum this week, so that means I can have her on the bed at night :)

Last night she stayed next to me all night, and kept crying and gently biting me! Never seen this before

Like having another kid! Can't wait until work is finished on Thursday.

I no longer have any animals. It wasn't really through choice (though once they are gone you realise what a anchor they are) more through where we wanted to live. Landlady is absolutely anti pets and even though we've been here over two years now she still won't budge. Probably for the best really, but man I really miss my girls :(

When Nicola and I got together and moved in together I had two bengal girls (Rapunzel and Dolly) and Nicola had two girls (Millie, a very old ragdoll and Woolly, A F2 Savannah). Woolly was mental. Every morning I would awake at the farm house and come out of the bedroom to go downstairs and you could already hear her thundering around downstairs. By the time I got to the kitchen she would be up on the side waiting for me and then came and gave me hugs, by placing her paws on my shoulder and shoving her cold wet nose in my ears :D She didn't purr, which I always thought was odd, but apparently Savannahs don't. She was also very protective, especially of me. One of Nicola's friends, Katie, tried to take her off my lap once and she bit her hahaha.

I'm absolutely gutted tbh. Some days I know it was probably for the best but others I really miss them.

Our Cairn Terrier, Jack, has just suddenly got very old in the last month. His back legs don't work properly, he can't work out when he needs a piss and he's just not interested in food at all.

He was a rescue dog and hadn't really had much of a decent life before my GF took him in. He's an absolute twat around other dogs but like some kind of insane needy cuddly bear around people.

We are taking him to the vets tonight in the hope that it's just an infection or something but with the very real fear that we might just be told that "he's had a good innings" etc.

Happy Friday everyone! :(

It may be that pain in the legs is putting him off his food and causing the pee issues - maybe with some painkillers he'd be alright. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Aww, I hope he's okay Trousers, Jem is right, it might be something easily sorted.

I have a day's study leave today, Topher has decided to 'help'.

Jack (the Cairn terrier) couldn't get into the vets until tomorrow but he seems perkier today. Has to be carried upstairs and the like but he made it into the back garden unaided earlier and that's quite a step.

He had his dinner on the sofa bless him.

Hopefully tomorrow will bring good news.

How's Jack got on Trousers?

Edit: I'm really sorry, I've just seen your Facebook update. :(

Joans has just taken Topher to the vets. The best bit is always watching him try to get him in the pet carrier. :D

Yeah it was bad news. Cancer. :(

I had Shorts this weekend as well so that was a difficult conversation. Was not good getting up this morning and him not being in his bed but I think tonight will be worse coming home to just Charlie who will be all confused about why he is on his own.

He was ready to go but there's still a big hole in the house now where he used to be.

Cheers all.

Having another dog in the house helps but then he's totally confused by the situation. Mrs T came in the house yesterday (it was she who took him to the vets) and Charlie just kept looking out of the door as if to say "Er, where's Jack?"

Then when we fed him late on he effectively circled his dish like a loon, as usually he goes and checks what Jack is having (always the same) in case it's better than his. Now he turns, realises Jack isn't there then goes back to his food, then turns to look again like he didn't believe it the first time and repeat ad infinitum.

Really sorry to hear about this dude, it's always a real kick in the balls.

At the risk of being a bit morbid, I read somewhere that it helps to actually allow other dogs to see the body because they can then understand what's happened rather than just having one of their number disappear on them. Obviously that's not always practical though.

Post subject:  Re: *~Pets Corner!~*

So 3 weeks after Jack goes somehow the little shit that is Charlie, The Jack Russell, gets out and goes missing yesterday. It was on my watch as she was out so I was absolutely frantic. The worst part was he had chewed his tag to bits and we hadn't got him a new one yet so would have been relying on his chip to get him back.

We combed the area with her on foot and me in the car and had to give up after a couple of hours. In the meantime we'd posted about it on Facebook and it turns out he had gone to the local co-op and been picked up there.

Facebook is a right load of old wank most of the time ("How hot is your body?", "Which of your Friends is your bestest?", "What fruit are you?" etc) and yet that post got a shitload of shares in a short space of time that led to us not spending a night fretting about him having got run over or stolen etc.

I still don't know how he got out. The garden is sealed up tight and the front door was shut - God Damn Charlie Houdini.

Meet Digby:)

Not ours he belongs to our neighbours, so my boy has all the fun of a puppy with none of the work!

Our cat is not going to know what hit her once he goes outside, she treats the garden next door as her own. The previous dog my neighbours had passed away so for the last few years he wasn't bothered about chasing her.

My cat used to go and sit outside of my neighbours patio doors staring as their old dog whilst he sat in their living room, there will be no more of that!

Not sure if we'll ever crumble again and get a dog (or maybe a cat). I like to think we will someday, maybe when the kids are old enough to pick up shit.

Almost stood on a little hedgehog in the garden last night

Love them as an animal and not seen one in our garden before, he is a little small so worried he won't be fat enough for hibernation.

So bough a torch and some specialist food and will track him down over the next few days and feed him in up the conservatory for the next couple of weeks all being well.

Charlie has been enjoying life as the only dog in the house but Millie was posted on the Warrington Animal Welfare website for re-homing and well - just look at her.

Seems to be settling in fine and Charlie hasn't got a sulk on about a new dog being here yet.

Tempted to cry off going to see Creeper in Manchester tonight just to experience more of the cute.

Thanks. I'm just glad they could come out to us. He just went to sleep purring away while we cuddled him. We're in pieces but our daughter is going to be crestfallen, he never really liked kids what with them being noisy and stuff so I thought that the arrival of a baby might have made him miserable. But it didn't, ever since she arrived he just followed her around everywhere and took all the hugs he could get off her (even if he did smack her in the face one time just so she knew what was up).

Thanks everyone. We're all really going to miss him but it wouldn't have been fair to try to keep him going longer. The vet said she would have done the same thing if it was her cat. He'd stopped eating altogether and could barely move around the house.
