Appalled that the comments section in the BBC blog post talking about this is full of people suggesting that it is not an F1 issue to worry about, or more worried about where to hold a replacement race, rather than the army shooting people who aren't acting violently, and whether that is a suitable place to hold an event in the first place.

But at the insistence of the teams who said they won't go, rather than because Bernie or the Crown Prince of Bahrain saying it's off.

Nice to see the well rounded report spending virtually all of that article talking about climate change!

I'd sooner they cut sports than current affairs and anything else more serious that's the sort of thing you want a public broadcaster to be doing. Though I think they should just leave all sports to the commercial broadcasters really, trying to compete with them is a waste of money.

Bernie wants it free to air. He doesn't want to be dependent on TV companies for revenue, he'd rather get it himself via sponsorship. Less viewers means less sponsorship money. OK that will be made up in what Sky could give him but that's not the point. It's about control.

Rumour has it that Sky have sounded Bernie out before and he's not interested at any price. Not out of the goodness of his heart but because large audiences matter to him. F1 is all about getting the sponsorship revenue in.

Expect to see a deal cut with the BBC. A large audience is the most important thing for him.

I'd rather it was on Sky. I could just download each race after it finishes and neither Murdoch nor the sinister silver-haired dwarf would get any of my money.

They're contracted for a few years aren't they, it's not a rolling year by year deal I don't think, but I'm not sure how many years past this one they've signed up for. This year it's actually getting transmitted in HD for the first time isn't it?

I was tempted to get the F1 timing app for the iPad, but it's £20 and I know i'll most likely lose interest after the first race!

It's built on a subscription model isn't it? Don't you have to renew every year, so basically the app is free but the sub is £20 pa?

Pretty much, but I think they do it so that there is a new app every year that costs £20. Basically the same thing.

That's... wow. It makes sense, as the sport's been going on for 60 years, and he's been in it for about 20, but still.

I have Barrichello in my fantasy F1 team. The way I figure it, on the law of averages, he's got to win a race at some point, right?

I think he has won his share already with Ferrari & Brawn. Can't see him doing much with the Williams

Great quali, Vettel amazingly fast. Mclaren back in the thick of it. Very impressed by Petrov where was quick Nick? Kobayashi also fast. Schumi & Barrichello very poor

I am currently worried that this season will be as exciting as 2004 on the current performance gap to the front. I hope I'm wrong.

Most surprising to see Rubens driving the way he did this weekend (during qualifying and the race) - it's not like him at all.
Shumacher qualified badly but it's not his fault someone drove into him on the first corner.
And I'm still of the opinion that he doesn't care one bit

Yes it is worrying especially because Webber was so poor in the sister Red Bull.
But Mclaren were close, my only concern was that Red Bull was not using KERS.
