That looks an awful lot like the picture that came on the cover of the first (I think) Warhammer 40,000 rulebook.

Liking that a lot, but Sleigh Bells were always a pretty easy sell for me anyway. Must get around to the album proper.

Speaking of bells, I'm still loving the last School Of Seven Bells effort. This track in particular. I'm a sucker for anything shoegazey and they hit just the right spot for me, kind of dreamy and intense but with a good sense of structure so it doesn't all just drift off into self-indulgence. You can definitely hear the Secret Machines influence too, which I like.

I am listening to Dim. I really, really like it, which I didn't expect to. It's a little hard to hear the vocal, although a) I suspect that's the point, to give it that 'garage' feel, and b) I have crappy headphones at home, so that probably doesn't help.

Did you overdub any of the guitar work? The site says there are three people but I'm sure I can hear a pair of guitars (plus bass + drums) at some points.

I am pleasantly surprised that I'm not having to hunt around a way of saying "that's good technical stuff, but it's not my thing" without offending.

Bravo, sir. Good work.

Best Nero remix I've heard. I've next to no love for dubstep, but it sounds much better sped up :)

Yes there's guitar overdubs on it. The recordings are studio productions rather than a direct recreation of what we sound like live. We don't have any female backing singers live either. I'm glad you like it. Are you listening to the one the web site (which is an earlier demo) or the final mix on Bandcamp?

So, Teenage Dirtbag was back in the charts yesterday (#36), which was curious - but not as curious as the fact that was also in the top 40 again exactly a year ago (#40). What, is there an anniversary, or something?

Also, someone sang "Ordinary People" on The Voice last night, which broadcast at about 8:50pm. The chart is counted at midnight, and the original song had entered at number 27. Cor.

Found myself listening to a fair bit of Roxy Music last night after Mrs Z mentioned she'd heard a song of theirs on the radio but couldn't remember the name. Ended up playing their second LP, after we'd found the single she wanted, which ends with 'In every dreamhome a heart break' which is an awesomely dark song about a sex doll.

One for you all you Simuloid fans out there.

Got hold of the new Hawkwind album "Onward", smashing super great in a space rock kinda way.

The new Fiona Apple single, "Every Single Night", is:

1) Amazing, and
2) Possessing a very strange video.

I can't imagine anything else beating her album for my album of the year. Not even the reformed Ben Folds Five.

That said, I've only heard three tracks off it, but I am the most excited I have been for an album in about forever.

Ah, those were the days.

Anyroadup, Out Of The Blue, awsomely live. Eddie Jobson may have been the originator of the violin solo at the end, but Lucy Wilkins is hotter.

Anyone who likes noise math-rock like Hella, Lightning Bolt or Battles would do well to check out Giraffes? Giraffes! Their track 'I am s/h(im)e[r] as you am s/h(im)e[r]' is incredible.

I love a bit Giraffes? Giraffes!, I noticed one of their songs is on the rock band network. I'll be buying that once I get round to buying rock band 3 again.

Other math rock kind of stuff you might like.

Never heard of them before, but picked 'Scorpion Bowls at the Hong Kong' at random on Youtube. If I'd heard it without knowing what it was I'd have sworn it was Bob Fripp or something previously unknown from King Crimson. Jolly good.
