How did it go?

Thank you for the reminder, I knew I still had something to do. Incredibly the new cable seems to have sorted it. The dashcam is charging and the fans are blowing at every speed I choose.

Now it may be that the cable had something wrong with it, or just some things needed jiggling, but either way everything is sorted for now so I have replaced the fuse panel and backed away slowly.

Thank you for the offer of help, Dr Zoidberg.

This is the best way, and the outcome you were hoping for. I hope you gave a little shrug too, as you retreated reflecting on how it now works but you don't know why.

My dad has decided to give up driving at the age of 82. He’s got Parkinson’s and hasn’t needed to use the car much over the last year and a bit for obvious reasons so doesn’t feel happy on the roads any more.

Very mixed feelings about this as he’s obviously doing the right thing but it’s a huge sign he’s not going to be around forever. It also means it’s going to be really tricky to take him out anywhere as he can’t get in and out of my Mini.

I’m half tempted to buy the car off him to use it just for that, but if not, does anyone want to buy a Skoda Yeti?
It’s a 1.2TSi DSG SE with 39k miles. Perfect family transport.

Just in the middle of getting a campervan. Getting an ex-AA VW Transporter converted.

Got someone else doing the campervan bits and that's all in hand so I'm all about the styling when it comes back. The trend for years has been big rims, lowered, splitters etc. and they look nice but it always struck me as a bit impractical for something that will be going on wet, muddly fields. So I'm going the other way with a "swamper" look. It's only a 2WD van so it's only really decoration but still with some semi off-road tyres and okay ground clearance it should cope slightly better. Want to end up with something a bit like this except ours will be yellow and with a slightly less aggressive tyre as they're apparently a bit shit on the road:

Well excited, just got to wait at least a month for the work to be done.

Ooh, she's lovely. The wife and I have agreed that we'll be getting a camper after the kids have flown the nest. Or when they've decided that camping with the old folks isn't cool anymore

Yeah, there's only three of us so it seemed like an ideal thing to have for getting out and about. We love camping so this should extend the season for us as well as making it easier to just go away for a night or two at short notice. Got some longer trips planned as well.

I have never known such a rabbit hole of options and things to consider as there are with these things. Been reading about nothing else for months. I'm just glad they've already cut a massive hole in the roof because it means I'm fully committed now so if I have made any mistakes with what we've ordered they are effectively in the past and and no longer worth stressing about.

Ha ha. I think at £1200 plus fitting I'll see how I get on with just getting the farmer to tow us out.

I love it, but if possible I'd ask them to get rid of the bull bar on the front, due to them no being very pedestrian-friendly.

I did have a read up about bull bars and apparently to fit them they have to be certified as pedestrian friendly, though I have no idea how this is achieved unless they're made of plasticine or something.

Yeah, but if his is going to look like it I assume it'll include the lump of steel on the front.

I also have no idea what a pedestrian friendly bull bar is.

Been trying to get to the bottom of this and I tihnk to get approved they are mounted on somewhat bendy brackets, so not really functional but even then I can't see how they're going to be a fun thing to get run over by. But they look so good :(

There’s a few small marks when you look close up and a *tiny* dent on the passenger door but nothing out of place on a 7 year old car. These are really nice to drive and not bad on fuel at all.
It’ll end up at WBAC and on a forecourt at £9k in a few weeks.

A local dealer has a blue Focus RS and a bright orange V8 Mustang with cool black stripes (similarly priced). They are both incredibly tempting and I'm pretty sure would be financeable BUT also totally and utterly unnecessary when I don't drive far and my current car is functional.

Just a quick question.

Second hand cars prices seem to have gone up. Skoda have offered me £12100 for mine, we buy any car have offered £12300, out standing finance is £11800, so I will be in pocket.

This means I will need to get a new car. I am looking at the hybrid route, the Octavia's have a 1.4 petrol / hybrid. I will need a charge box at home, but I think you can get grants. I am not sure I can go fully electric yet.

I am torn between the SE L (with optional extras) and the VRS (already fully loaded) as there is not much difference in cost, £2000 ish.

The bit I am not sure on, is to go down PCP or to lease. I don't need to own a car, so I am thinking leasing. Is there a down side?

Why? I mean, do you have to change it now for other reasons apart from it being worth £300-500 more than what's left?

You're basically hiring the car so won't have anything to trade-in for next time.
