Because you charge electric cars and the Dodge Charger is another classic American muscle car.

I liked it more after seeing the presentation and I think it could be a good utility vehicle. But I hope we're not headed to where every dickhead currently sat behind the wheel of an Audi Q6 thinks that they're doing their bit by leasing a fucking electric tank instead to ferry their kids about at 0-60 in 3.5 seconds.

Oh, I thought it was because petrol cars dodged charging by running on fossil fuels. You’re now not as clever as I thought you were.

Car types, the C-Max is exhibiting a metallic squeal from the rear left wheel when turning right at speed. Seemed to get worse when car was loaded down with people.

Bearing would be my first thought. Jack it up and see if you can wobble the tyre.

Dunno, never done a Ford bearing. You might need a press.

Post subject:  Re: Gas Guzzling Money Pits

Stone stuck behind brake disc? Take to bits, see if anything wobbles. May be tabs to warn of low brake although more likely to see a light on dash in that case.

Post subject:  Re: Gas Guzzling Money Pits

Wheel didn't wobble when jacked up. Have taken off wheel, but my layman's eye sees nothing obvious. Nothing loose or cracked. Brake disc looks fine.

Post subject:  Re: Gas Guzzling Money Pits

Put the wheel back on and went for a quick jaunt with the windows down (chilly!), up some twisty country roads then a blast down a motorway junction. The whine is gone, but the brakes still sound like they're rubbing a bit.

Disc looks pretty worn. Could be the wear indicator on your pads though like Wookie said.

Turn your stereo up.

Post subject:  Re: Gas Guzzling Money Pits

Might just be the picture but that all looks like it's been a bit hot, did it spin freely? Also sometimes the Flexi pipes cause a problem where the brake holds on for a few seconds after breaking which can be hard to spot when driving. Get someone to press the brake while the wheels off the ground and check that it unlocks and spins freely when they take their foot off.

Doesn't sound ridiculous, probably £80 in parts and and hour and half to do it, maybe an hour depending on the handbrake setup.

Post subject:  Re: Gas Guzzling Money Pits

I managed to get a cut on the inside sidewall of the rear left tyre. For it replaced like for like which is annoying as I want to put Michelins on instead of pirelli.

They pointed out the front right is worn flat on the inside shoulder.

Motherfucker. This car has jumped back to parity with tyre needs with the BMW after a year making me think it was better.

£177 a pop. I really need to look at this stuff when buying cars.

Maybe just pair up the two good Pirelli’s and buy a pair of Michelin’s for now? Always found Pirelli’s great in dry weather but shite on wet roads, you the same?

Author:  BikNorton [ Mon Dec 30, 2019 19:49 ]
Post subject:  Re: Gas Guzzling Money Pits

I find them shit in all conditions, both these Cinturato 7 and the PZero Nero I had on the BMW. Michelin pilot sport 3 was an absolute revelation compared to everything else I've had, ever.

The tyre guy says because it's 4x4 I should match all 4 but I don't think that's necessarily the case; it can cope with uneven wear front to back after all.

I'm going to put the new pair on the front to wear quicker then replace all 4. Better start saving!

4 wheel alignment tomorrow when the tyres are sorted.

This is all complicated by the fact they spotted the front right when one guy was checking condition and pressure of the other three as another guy was finishing up putting the new one on. Because it's atypical fitment (235/40R19) they have to order tyres in. Any, not just pirelli.

Heating steering wheels are the business when it's very cold, from now on I will not consider a car unless it has a heated steering wheel.

Rev matching is the tits too.

Author:  Hearthly [ Thu Jan 02, 2020 10:47 ]
Post subject:  Re: Gas Guzzling Money Pits

The car matches the revs when you downshift so you get a perfect change. It's something that can be done manually with the 'heel and toe' technique but I was never very good at that.

It's so good I find it awful to drive without it now.
