Blimey you looked it up after I said I didn't like it? Brave... Very brave...

Aye it's an eye bleeder for sure. In the town I lived in people thought it was a prank and not a real car as they had one in orange sat outside for months.

Isn't that what Walter White drives in Breaking Bad?

Post subject:  Re: Gas Guzzling Money Pits

It was indeed, if you have a Google around, it was a very deliberate choice.

https://www.quora.com/Breaking-Bad-TV-s ... tiac-Aztek

Quote:
The car, in a strange parallel with it’s owner, has been through the wringer. It’s windshield was broken several times. Walt’s glasses were broken several times over the course of the series. This can’t be a coincidence. Nothing on Breaking Bad just happens for no reason. The fern green Aztek is Walter White on wheels. It gets beaten up a few times from falling airline disaster debris, or running over bad guys, but it gets patched up again and keeps on going.

Another symbolic association with the Aztek is its name. The Aztecs were a native people of northern Mexico, of which the setting of the show, New Mexico, was once a part.

Midway through the fifth and final season of the series, Walt sells his worn out Pontiac (after it just had major repairs once again) for $50. I think this is a way of him tossing away his old persona and going full-on Heisenberg by leasing a loaded black Chrysler 300 with a hemi. Timid Walter is gone forever, replaced by the more self-sure and ruthless Heisenberg.

The only part of that comment that refers to the Aztec specifically rather than any other old beater is the reference to New Mexico, which sounds extremely tenuous and made up after the fact.

BB and Shawshank are both basically works of art. Mali has no taste in film or TV whatsoever. Riverdale proves that sort of ab initio.

One of the "joys" of being post barge, I had to do a round trip to pick up a load of stuff, and it wouldn't fit in the MX5.
£25 day rental later, and I was pootling about in a Kia Cee'd...

At first impression it was pretty good! All the toys in the world, nicely put together, cheap plastics but that is to be expected.
Started it up and blimey, agricultural is not the world, the diesel engine sounded like I should get to a garage pretty quick, but the car had only done 4k miles. Clattery as fuck.
Got on the road and the noise in the cabin was really bad, as in raise your voice to have a conversation over the tyre noise bad.
It crashed and bumped over every pothole, the ride was way too harsh.
6 speed gearbox! Which was just as well, as any incline meant changing down to 4th, or even 3rd, it was utterly gutless.

Still, bluetooth everything, lane assistance, reversing camera etc... Just a shame the car underneath all the tech was horrible.

I don’t really ‘get’ what makes a car ugly, but even I can see that is horrible.

Still, the ugliest car ever will always be the Fiat Multipla.
