A learner on the motorway?

That's allowed now. Assuming Wookie is a qualified driving instructor and the MG has dual controls.

Have you considered using a slightly more reliable form of transport for an airport run, like, say, a deaf horse infected with near-fatal mange?

I believe the car belongs to the driver. Or at least Wookie is going to give it to him. Or something.

Something like that. Part of the reason he's gone is too get his 9" banded rostyle wheels sent back, we sent them to Latvia a while ago and they've been made but he needs to actually show up and post them back himself.

My old MGB started sparking from under the dashboard on the way home from the pub, my passenger and I just looked at each other and had a moment of silent agreement, so I pushed down on the accelerator and we carried on driving.

I'm not sure about "legal" but more than two inches will fail your MOT.

I had to put rubber arches on the Tomcat and Jesus fuck they were expensive.

Random question: If I were out of petrol say, and I had to move and started my car in first ( or reverse ) would the starter motor actually move me any decent distance? I imagine it's not a good idea, but if it were enough to get me onto the hard shoulder it it would be pretty handy.

I only noticed last weekend when driving up to Gaz and Jem’s as I only pootle around town in it 90% of the time.

You'll run the battery out and I wouldn't run the starter for more than 20sec at a time but it does work and can get you out of trouble.

Many modern cars require you to push the clutch in, thus breaking this idea somewhat.

Day off tomorrow.

Please lord deliver me from the temptation of going to look at this delicious Scooby. I still miss my old Scooby, that car was fucking awesome.

The thing is, this is kind of like my old Scooby (the engine hasn't evolved much, and neither has much of the rest of it), in a different shell (and with a better interior) - but that's a good thing.

Brexit stockpiling and cash in the bank, or car spunkage? It's a tricky one.

New car tariffs are going to increase after brexit, so the only sensible thing to do is to put your savings into a second hand car, as the price of second hands cars will absolutely increase post brexit, no doubt about it.

Buying now is the only choice that makes sense if you want to provide for your family in the future

I might get saved by my new NAS being delivered, as I won't be able to resist getting that set up and configured. ALSO three new gigabit switches for MAXIMUM NETWORKING.

It's a gorgeous day though, perfect weather to test drive a Scooby.

Car dead. Gearbox completely seized up. Very little warning, just some vibration when bringing the clutch up.

Seriously doubt this is going to be an economical repair

Post subject:  Re: Gas Guzzling Money Pits

Ouch. Cost me around £400 plus labour for mine last year... plus the clutch and DM flywheel that died too.

Is it at a garage now, DP?
