Yeah, but to have that level of torque in your 535d, it meant you had to have a diesel... No thanks ;)

They are actually supposed to be pretty reliable, but the car will only be as good as the last owner, which you have no idea about when buying from a dealer.
Plus, with these cars, people sell them for two reasons, either it has cost them a fortune recently and they have had enough and moved on, or they have found an issue and flogged it before they had to spend money...

Nah, I have a credit card bill the same size as the price of the car. I should really put the money into that, especially as I don't drive that much anymore!

Speaking of stupid, tempting cars, I noticed this on a dealer's forecourt on the way to the airport dropping my mum off yesterday.

They've got the engine wrong (it's a 2.5 in these), I had my eye on them for a while but the prices were resolutely staying the wrong side of £20K, seems like they've finally come down a bit.

Four doors and a boot so passes the family test. If it weren't for the fact the ST is so damn good I'd almost certainly go out for a test drive as I do love Scoobies.

Anyone know about buying winter tyres? Preferably with wheels?

Blackcircles and tyresonthedrive make it hard (no I don't want 235/r19 thanks), mytyres will at least sell a package but only offer alloys without an obvious "price of alloys" - surely it should be easier to get a set of just-fit-over-the-calipers steelies with decent winters than this?

Or am I being thick thinking cheap steelies are available in approx 17" diameter?

But that's so HARD.

Seriously though - finding out the fitment, finding someone selling the fitment at (near enough) the sweet spot size for winter tyres, getting them delivered.. All before the long while wondering if they're going to catastrophically fail because they're off ebay

Plenty of people sell full sets of wheels and winter tyres when they get rid of a car. Which one do you want then for?

What size are you after, specifically? It's horrifically unlikely that the size you're looking for will match the set of winter wheels with barely used tyres on them that I have in my garage, but what the hell ;)

There's a place (Star Tyres - Preston) near where I work that sells new and part worn tyres AND 2nd hand steelies for spares/winter sets. Maybe call around places near you to see if anyone does the same.

Been a week now with extra horses in my car. It's insane how much more power they've squeezed out of it.

Need to do my brakes.

Fitted these bad boys today, OEM Honda roof spoilers:

Attachment:
roofspoilers.jpg

Not the most fun job ever, it involved prising up the roof molding whilst praying that the clips didn't break and then measuring it a few times before chopping it up into pieces with a hacksaw. Still worthwhile doing it myself, though. Honda apparently charge £180 for this job, which is unfathomable. If I had to do another now it would take me twenty minutes tops. But whilst I was under there I was able to hopefully fix a nagging water ingress problem whereby the retracted portion of the rear seat belt would get wet when it rained. I had deduced that the roof seam was the most likely culprit and when I got the molding up it looked as though a previous owner, who was possibly a chimpanzee, had attempted a fix of their own. Anyway I spent a good hour cleaning off the unidentifiable substance that they had daubed on there and then put some seam sealer on so hopefully that'll be that. Unless the water is getting in somewhere else and it then won't.

The cards are free in principle but drivers have to obtain them from insurers who “may decide to reflect production and handling costs in a small increase to their administration fees”. Drivers would also need an international drivers’ permit, the government disclosed in earlier notices.
