The TPMS story had initial promise, but I found the rushed happy ending a bit of a let down, to be honest, it's like the brochure script writers hadn't been working together.

This summer, the story of one man who will stop. At nothing. A handbrake that's quit. A hero who won't. Jason Statham is Kovacs (and it's nothing to do with Altered Carbon or Watchmen, so don't get your hopes up).

They are actually reasonably reliable and easy to work on, certainly compared to any modern barge.
The killer is the real world single figure mpg.

I wouldn't call it ugly, it's majestic.

8) I used to fix them for a living! A combination of 70s discreet electronics and vastly over complicated suspension and braking systems make for some not at all cheap repairs. Granted the well looked after ones are a magic carpet ride.

Yes, but in comparison to the cost and difficulty of fixing a modern barge, you're most likely better off with the Bentley!

You might be on to something there.
Maybe the way to do it is drive it till it breaks then scrap it.

I think it’s way beyond “my” help. Also, I know what it is and thought it was GRP bodied, so that’s some interesting rot

What is it? The side profile looks eerily familiar but I can't place it.

I want to say a Renault or Citroen?

Renault A610

Doesn't look like rust, looks like delamination and paint issues. The corners look the right shapes.

This isn't the first time I've had someone pull out on me when I've already started my overtake, fortunately I'm always waiting for it to happen.

I got him back soon after though.

Not sure you should’ve been trying to overtake two vehicles at once if it’s obvious the one two in front is a lot slower.

I was indicating before I started the manoeuvre and from a decent distance back, you can see he literally just indicated as he was starting his overtake, so clearly didn't check his mirrors at all, or he would have seen a bright blue car already starting an overtake. (He'd also not demonstrated much interest in overtaking before that point, despite having the opportunity to do so.)

And what's wrong with overtaking two (or more) cars at once? Remember that's a derestricted road, no speed limit, so as long as you start the overtake with a good view of the road ahead and with enough time to complete it safely, what's the issue?

In fact how does this work? So if the vehicle at the head of the pack is a tractor, and the vehicle behind it is a Honda Jazz driven by an octogenarian, if you're sat in the third vehicle back you just sit there all day because there are two other vehicles in front of you and the one at the front is slow?

Yes I remember when I worked at GAME in Blackburn and lived in Radcliffe, my 'working day' was about 6am to around 7pm, give or take, with all the bastard commuting (if you can even call that distance a commute, but it was just awkward to do, as it needed a bus and a train).

It's one of the (many) things I'm glad I left behind, but those who still have to put up with it have my sympathy, because I fucking hated it.

Absolutely this. It doesn't bother me, I just sit and read or play a game, which isn't much different to what I'd be doing at home.

But like you, once I stop I predict I'll think I was an idiot.

Most days I leave the house at 6.40 get to work for 7 and then leave again at 3.30 and get home for 4. So I get a couple of hours where I can maybe go for a run and then spend time with my wife and daughter. I'd be so pissed off if I had to spend all those hours sat hunched over on a bus just staring at another fucking screen instead.

I managed to put a couple of hours in this afternoon.. It didn't last though.

However, I was working all day yesterday from 8:30am to about 5:30pm.

Nice!

I'm still about 20 minutes from home and left the house at 6.15 this morning. But I knew what I was signing up for when we moved. Should sort it out but, debt.

I've never been a car guy, as you all can tell from my wibblings in this thread, but I couldn't be without my car. Before, I was up at 6am, out of the house by 6:40, train at 6:50, 45 minute journey, 5 minute walk to bus stop, another 40 minutes on bus. And same again in reverse in to get home. The car costs more and causes me aggro, but I'll take it for giving me my sanity back

I have a fifteen-minute walk to and from work and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I suspect I’ll have to when we move out of Nottingham though.
