That's the top coat, NATO aircraft grey, nice and bright for seeing things when you're laid underneath it fixing stuff that's gone wrong.

Nice and bright... until you drive it for the first time on UK roads in the wet, and then it's a uniform shade of meh forever more.

Just realised that my new car has a clock that tells the right time all year and not just for half of it. That's progress.

And when you looked back on the sand and only saw 1 set of tyre prints... it was because your shit heap was up on a ramp.

Dog bless you all, it passed, albeit with a couple of advisories (slight exhaust leak on the back box, o/s/r inner and outer sill corroding (oh, shit) and one tyre getting close to legal limit).

Might have to start thinking about getting rid.

My superb doesn't, even though it's set to the clock from GPS (RDS is too hard or something). Fucking stupid.

Our new VoIP phone system at work doesn't seem to automatically update the time either, despite it literally being connected to the Internet 24/7/365, and despite having NTP settings in its admin panel.

//edit: This prompted me to look at it, and of course NTP servers just return UTC don't they, d'oh. There was a separate DST setting that was turned off. Fucksake.

My weather station pulls down the time when you first set it up... and then never polls again it seems. It drifts by around 5 minutes a month, and doesn't reset for DST.
If I wipe it and reset it, it will get the correct time.

I'm Thailand and they seem to have a thing for Yarises (Yari?) out here. Seems to be the boy racer's car of choice.

This is a car purporting to be a Yaris at our resort.

Who the fuck knows. I thought my ‘03 Focus would be fucked. Apparently it’s fine. I think a lot of people with >3yr old diesels are going to get screwed. Petrol less so.

Yeah, I just assumed I would have to pay, as a 2003 massive V8 is exactly the car I expected them to be targeting.
I was surprised when I checked.

How far do you reckon you could drive on a flat tyre? The tyre shop is 1.3 miles away from here.

The Internet reckons I shouldn't drive on it at all but when has the Internet ever been right?

I see what you did there...

Anyway, I've had a look at the mobile fitting site. They're not available in this area until the 29th April. I googled another one and they're available, just expensive.

I reckon I'm going to see if I can drive up the road on Monday morning... I mean, what's the worst that can happen?

Everyone dies

If it is only a mile and a bit away just take the wheel off and walk or get a cab to the place

My old Focus hit a massive pothole and the rim ended up with a flat spot and a crack. I ordered another one from a breakers online and it came with a decent tyre.

I got it delivered to work in South Ken and had to carry it home on the tube (and walk a bit). People gave me very strange looks, as if they'd never seen a bloke carrying an alloy wheel around before. On reflection, I suppose I 've not seen it myself, before or since.

I also got a bit of abuse from people driving past as I was walking with it from the station, horns being honked and 'wanker' shouted out the window of passing cars. On reflection, that has also happened without carrying a wheel.

It was handy at the pub, I stopped for refreshments on the way home and was able to sit on it in the crowded beer garden.

Went to fit new brakes pads and disks this weekend, got car on stands, wheels off, got to callipers and then realised I needed a 7mm allen key. Searched around / called / shopped and realised for some fucking bizarre reason 99.9% of all socket sets don't include a 7mm allen head. So I ordered one ready to do brakes next weekend.

Anyway, car was on stands so I had a few other things to look at and do, first on the list was the doggone mount. My car has felt juddery since I've had gearbox/clutch and remap done, kinda put it down to wear and tear on the old girl or maybe the remap had effected the anti-shudder valve  Just lived with it for the last 7 months or so. I'd read poly bushes were a nice easy and cheap upgrade so I'd bought a new dogbone mount and powerflex bushes to go in.

Took off the under tray and spotted this!

Attachment:
dogbonebolt.jpg

The main stretchbolt holding the bugger in place was on holiday on my undertray, no wonder it felt juddery :DD Felt stupid for not looking earlier but I've been lazy with my car while I've had other stuff to do at home. Anyway, new one is in AND IT DRIVES LIKE A NEW CAR gear changes, acceleration and well everything just feels tight now. Think when the garage did my gearbox they used the old bolts NAUGHTY! and it's worked loose.

AND THEN I treated the old girl to the new Auto Finesse car was / polish / spray wax my boss got me for Christmas that I'd forgotten about. It's great stuff, always championed Chemical Guys gear but this is better I'd say, even easier to apply and smells lovely too.
