Fair enough. Thanks for the full and honest reply ;)

Right I'm going spend my lunch watching car reviews. Is this how the other half live?

Hmm, I'm changing my mind. You want a last-gen Fiesta (2010 onwards) but a good example of one of them is going to up the price to £3k.

Get a 206 GTi :D

[edit] FUCK ME forget about that, they've jumped up in price by 300%.

Fucking knew I should have bought one last year >:(

[edit2] Turns out I'm not lying https://www.beexcellenttoeachother.com/ ... 01#p901301

Don’t worry Grim… the pedals are too close together for your manly sized feet anyway. My friend (size 11) test drove one and kept pressing the brake and accelerator at the same time. Didn’t get off the forecourt.

In my brain that said "it's easy to heel and toe it!".

Also I'd sling it in a shed, I wouldn't drive it.

I had a 206 not gti and it was the worst car I've ever set eyes on, let alone driven. Horrible, lumpy, unreliable piece of shit with no redeeming qualities.

Pedal were a bit close together though

The French do know how to make some pretty cars, though. Even the run of the mill hatchbacks are usually fairly handsome compared to what else is around.

Why not book a trip to the Isle of Man, DavPaz? They're practically giving second hand cars away.

206s aren't too bad but 106s I literally cannot drive with shoes on and even then it's a squeeze.

Great for the school run!

It's probably not as exciting a car as you think :)

You'll still pay £15,000 for one, though.

Ooof, 10 years ago we sold ours for significantly less than that, but it was 10 years ago and it it had a few (small, minor) cosmetic marks

9 ECU errors showing up on their diagnostic tool, but because they don’t have VAGCOM they’re advising me to get it checked at a VAG specialist as it might just be one or two things causing the multiple errors, but they can’t be sure. :(

The car drives perfectly apart from at the top of the rev range, but I want to get it sorted before my 3mo warranty runs out.

So my car has a low speed squeak from the rear left wheel area.

Any thoughts.

Is it bad?

Does the noise start or stop if you press the brake pedal lightly? When mine was doing that lately it was just that the brake pads were worn right down, some brake pads actually have little bit of metal that's designed to make a squealing noise to let you know that they're worn out.

Not really, it seems most common when starting to move, or moving along slowly in traffic.

That said, it is an automatic, so there is some auto braking??

Aktien and Gesellschaft are two separate words, obviously.

AG is the German equivalent of plc, I believe.

PLANS HAVE CHANGED

I may now be getting a 57 plate C-Max. It would basically be a straight swap for the Picasso.

I don't know what the pedals are like!

It's a Focus, so the pedals will be fine.

The Ecoboost engines are superb, don't be afraid of getting a small-engined one if it pulls the price down (although do test it and draw your own conclusions, of course).

ideally test drive a couple of them to compare. We considered a C-Max when we swapped Mrs Z’s car but we went for a RAV4 instead.

I jest about the pedals :) I'm sure their fine (I have size 9-10 feet)

It's a 1.8 Petrol.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified ... 1164006927

I've driven my brother's C-Max a few times and it seemed like a solid car. Pretty comfortable.

This one seems to have the better spec radio, too. Which is nice.

That looks like the same radio that was in our Focus a few years back.

If it is, you can put in three CDs. Witchcraft!

Looks tidy, DP.

On that mileage ask if it's had its timing belt & water pump done.

My old 172 sport turned up on the front page of Pistonheads this morning. We knew the guy was going to flip it, but I still think he might be waiting a while for his asking price for what looks like about £4-500 worth of fettling. Less if he did it himself.

Now there's a decent looking Focus 1.8 Zetec on a 57 plate with 83k on it for £1500

And Volvo V50 estate for £3k but that one's a category D and that scares me

Best leaving the insurance jobs out if you can afford something clean. Could ask to see the assessors report and evidence of repair work if it’s a car you really really want though.
